Library screens ‘Guardians of the Galaxy 2’

NORTHFIELD – Dickinson Memorial Library is hosting a free screening of “Guardians of the Galaxy 2” on Tuesday, Aug. 22, starting at 6 p.m. Attendees are invited to bring dinner or snacks.

Poetry workshop set for Tuesday

WARWICK — A poetry workshop with bg Thurston, the final in a summer-long series, will be held Tuesday, Aug. 22, from 6 to 8 p.m. in the Warwick Free Public Library.

According to Thurston’s website, she has taught poetry through a variety of continuing education programs including Lasell Village in Newton and Newton Lifetime Learning. The workshops will focus on techniques for generating poems and refining work through revision.

Library offers rocket building workshops

NORTHFIELD – Dickinson Memorial Library is offering a program called “Design, Build & Launch Rockets” on Friday, Aug. 25, in two workshops from 1 to 2 p.m. and from 2 to 3 p.m.

The workshops are intended for ages 5 and up, and will allow participants to learn about design, physics, wind resistance and interplanetary travel. Advance registration is required by calling 413-498-2455.

Drive-in screens ‘retro’ films

NORTHFIELD – The Northfield Drive-In is offering “Retro Movie Weekend” from Friday, Aug. 25 to Sunday, Aug. 27.

According to the event’s Facebook page, the first film, “Back to the Future,” will begin at 7:55 p.m., followed by “Jaws.” Gates and snack bar open at 6:30 p.m.

Tickets are $11 for adults and $6 for children under the age of 12.
