Jay Avery went 4-for-4 and scored four times as third-seeded Turners Falls Pizza House beat sixth-seeded Hubie’s Tavern, 13-8, in a Montague Co-Rec Adult Softball League game Monday night at Unity Park in Turners Falls.
Steph Wilkes went 2-for-4 and scored twice in the win, and Mark Kosloski went 3-for-4 and scored a run.

Greenfield High School released its starting times for fall practices that begin this week. Here’s the rundown:
• Football: Veterans Memorial Field House (grades 9-12), Friday at 4 p.m.
• Field hockey: Greenfield High School (grades 7-12), Aug. 24 at 9 a.m.
• Golf: Country Club of Greenfield (grades 8-12), Aug. 24 at noon
• Boys’ soccer: Greenfield High School (grades 9-12), Aug. 24 at 2:15 p.m.
• Girls’ volleyball: Nichols Gymnasium (grades 8-12), Aug. 24 at 9 a.m.
• Boys’ and girls’ cross-country: Greenfield High School (grades 8-12), Aug. 24 at 3 p.m.
• Cheerleading: Greenfield High School (grades 9-12), Aug. 24 at 3:30 p.m.

Thomas’ Sr. Championship
Jeff White’s even-par round of 70 propelled him to the top spot in the Senior Club Championship held at Thomas Memorial Golf & Country Club in Turners Falls on Sunday.
Charlie Peters was the runner-up in the men’s division, posting a total of 76 over 18 holes.
Sue Bushey captured the women’s division crown on Sunday with a total of 101. Next was Teresa White, who finished second with a score of 111.
Mark K. Memorial
Doc Maloy, James Fowler, Jim Whitney, Fred Secore and Ken Mitzkovitz shot a 57 and won via a match of cards to win the Mark K. Memorial Mixed League Monday night at Oak Ridge Golf Club in Gill.
Erik LaCoy, Dan Malloy, Dick West and Rob LaPointe came in second with a 57.
CCG Rotary Outing
The quartet of Rich McFadden, Jason Wallace, Fred Avery and Jason Kelton combined to shoot 57 in nabbing first place at the Rotary Outing held at the Country Club of Greenfield on Monday.
Mike Johnson, Adam Lussier, Nancy Donoghue and Princy Stutz took the second spot in the gross standings with a total of 60.
Two teams tied for the low net score of the day with a 54. Matt Bete, Paul French, Dawn Bete and Matt Betsold posted the total, as did Rob Haigh, Brent Robichaud, Phil Haigh and Bruce Harwood.
Valley Storm tryouts
The Valley Storm fast-pitch softball team will hold tryouts for three teams.
• The 12-and-under tryouts are scheduled on Thursday from 6 to 8 p.m. at Merritt Field in Sunderland.

Babe Ruth Fall Ball
The Franklin County Babe Ruth Baseball Association will hold its final registration session for its Fall Baseball League Wednesday from 5 to 7:30 p.m. at Abercrombie Field in Greenfield.
The Fall League is open to anyone age 12 through 14. Babe Ruth is the next step for those players aging out of Cal Ripken next season and Fall Ball is a great introduction to a full-size diamond.

Newt Guilbault fall ball sign-ups
The first of three sign-ups for the Newt Guilbault Fall Baseball League will be held tonight from 5:30-7 p.m. at the Campbell Field concession stand in Turners Falls. The league will also hold sign-ups on Thursday from 5:30-7 and Saturday from 9:30-11 a.m. at Campbell Field.
Players must be between the ages of 7 and 12 (6-year-olds may sign up with league approval). Cost of the first child in a family is $75 (includes hat and shirt) while the second child is $50.
