SHELBURNE — On Sunday, July 30, 15 teens from many nations will see the Bridge of Flowers, the Glacial Potholes, Yankee Candle and many other sites with Lions Club member David Shields as their tour guide.
The Lions Club is hosting a Youth Exchange of 16- to-18-year olds who are spending two weeks in Massachusetts. Last week, they stayed with host families and on Saturday they travel to the University of Massachusetts Amherst, where they will stay through Tuesday.
According to David Shields of the Charlemont Lions, the youths will be visiting Shelburne Falls and then to the Davenport Maple Farm Restaurant for lunch and a tour of the evaporator room, so they can see how maple syrup is made.
Later Sunday, the students will be taken to Deerfield before they go back to UMass. The Charlemont Lions are part of the Massachusetts District 33Y, which has 39 clubs throughout the four counties of western Massachusetts.
Sharyn Wentworth, first vice district governor, said the youth group will then go back to eastern Massachusetts, where the young people were to cook an international meal for their hosts, featuring the dishes of their native countries.
