Rep. Paul Mark, D-Peru, visited the Dickinson Memorial Library in Northfield on a recent day and answered questions about politics. And not just any questions, but very good questions from children in the Northfield Summer Playground program, who were there to quiz him.
He explained how time consuming his job is because he seldom gets to take his hat off when he runs into constituents at the market, on the street or out to dinner. And that he seems to spend most of his time driving to all the towns he represents, plus to Boston and back.
When he got to talking about the Electoral College, that took a few minutes. When asked what his favorite thing about being a representative he answered without hesitation “Talking to you” and all the other people of his district.
Having become interested in politics at a young age after meeting a politician and shaking his hand, Mark ended his meeting by shaking the hands of all the young people in the room. He answered some more questions as he slowly made his way to the door, being coaxed by his aide to the next appointment.
