GREENFIELD — Dana Larson, 58, of Turners Falls was arrested in Greenfield on charges of driving while intoxicated, a fourth offense, marked lanes violation and driving as to endanger lives.
According to Greenfield Police, Larson was stopped for driving in the wrong lane on Chapman Street, near the Pleasant Street intersection after nearly hitting a police cruiser.
Larson was stopped on Wednesday, July 12, around 7:30 p.m. by Greenfield Officer Justin Purinton, who noticed a blue convertible traveling south on Chapman mostly in the northbound lane coming toward his cruiser. According to police, the officer needed to “slam” on his brakes to avoid a collision. The officer turned around and pulled Larson’s vehicle over on Pleasant Street.
After a brief investigation, the officer determined probable cause to believe the operator was operating under the influence (OUI) of alcoholic beverages. Larson was arrested and booked at the police station. During booking it was learned that this is Larson’s fourth offense of OUI.
Bail was set at $1,500 by the court and he was transported to the Franklin County House of Correction for holding.
