Zach Younger slugged a home run to help Hot-L Warren win a 20-18 slugfest over Paddy’s Pub Wednesday evening in a Greenfield Co-Rec Adult Softball League game played at Green River Field in Greenfield.
Brooke Hastings had two hits in the win. Terri Westbrook added one.
Joe Guidaboni had three hits and eight RBIs for Paddy’s. Barry DeJesu added four hits and four RBIs, Melissa Rotkiewicz had three hits, and Vinny Natale and Stephanie Winslow each had a pair of hits.
• Meanwhile, Frank Stumpo went 2-for-4 with a three-run triple and RG Penfield Construction topped Hubie’s Tavern, 20-6.
Nick Aldrich went 4-for-5 with two doubles in the win. Mary Morley had three hits and two RBIs.
Brian Ginnity had two hits, including a triple and three RBIs, for Hubie’s. Stefanie Williams had a pair of hits.
Erving League
Ben Herk and Peter McAndrews shot a 34 to win low-gross honors in the Erving League Tuesday at Northfield Golf Club.
Herk was the match medalist with a 2-under-par score of 34. John Hodgman and Tim King won low net with a 28. Herk was closest to the pin on No. 6 at 34 inches, while Hodgman was closest on No. 7 at 4 feet, 9 inches.
Matt Deane continues to lead the scoring race for the Erving Cup with 30 points, followed by Rodney Ebbighausen (13) and Hodgman (10).
Greenfield Elks League
John Cariddi and Stan Maynard lead the Greenfield Elks League at the Country Club of Greenfield with 65 points after 12 weeks.
Bob Zaikowski and Greg Call are tied with Sharon Rawson and Dick Golosh for second place with 62 points.
Maynard was closest to the pin on No. 2 on Wednesday at 17 feet, 5 inches.
KOC League
Fran Togneri won the weekly point quota at plus-10 to win the Knights of Columbus Golf League Wednesday at Thomas Memorial Golf & Country Club in Turners Falls.
Mike Beauregard, Chet Czernich and Darren Lenois tied for second place at plus-4.
Czernich was closest to the pin on No. 7 at 2-10, while Ken Adams was closest on No. 9 at 13-10.
Timmons League
Duff Delano and Bill Noyes shot a 36 and won a three-way match of cards to capture low gross in the Timmons League at the Northfield Golf Course on Wednesday.
Doug Farrick and Harry Hyams won low net with a 27.
Delano and Farrick tied for match medalist at 36, while Pete Blake was third with a 40. George Northrup was closest to the pin on No. 6 at 4-8, while Farrick was closest on No. 7 at 8-8.
Bluefish
Brynn Mullen won three events in the girls’ ages 9 and 10 division and the Montague Bluefish edged the South Hadley Swords, 161-159, in a Pioneer Valley Junior Swim League meet Tuesday night in Turners Falls.
Mullen won the 100-yard individual medley (1:42.64), 50 freestyle (38.43) and 50 breaststroke (52.52). Amelia Keeler won the 50 back (49.42) and was third in the 50 free, Josie Sabelawski was second in both the 100 IM (1:44.80) and 50 breast (53.79), and Summer Raimondo was second in the 50 butterfly (1:02.27). On the boys’ side, Tristan Bliss won the 100 IM (1:47.17) and 50 free (38.70), and was second in the 50 back (47.50), while Patrick Voss was second in the 50 free (47.30) and third in the 50 back.
Ben Tardif led the boys’ 11 and 12 division with firsts in the 100 IM (1:27.93), 50 free (36.09) and 50 fly (44.23). On the girls’ side, Ella Sabelawski was second in both the 50 free (36.60) and 50 back (46.57), and third in the 50 fly. Ava Fortin was third in the 100 IM and 50 breast, and Shaelyn Mullen was third in the 50 free.
Allison Wheeler won both the 50 free (31.34) and 50 breast (43.42), and was second in the 50 fly (37.71) to pace the Bluefish in the girls’ 13 and 14 division. Catherine Bezio won the 100 IM (1:26.16) and was second in the 50 back (39.81), and Skyler Cohen was third in the 50 breast. In boys’ 13-14 action, Iggy Passiglia won three events, capturing the 100 IM (1:24.02), 50 fly (40.05) and 50 breast (46.48). Dylan Bliss won the 50 back (37.45), and was second in both the 50 free (31.38) and 50 breast (51.77), and John Kolosewicz won the 50 free (31.16), and was second in the 50 fly (41.95).
Nick Taylor won the 50 fly (29.27) and 50 back (37.56), and was second in the 50 free (27.10) in the boys’ 15 through 18 division.
In 8 and under action, Alice Fortin won both the 25 free (20.24) and 25 breast (28.51) on the girls’ side, while Liam Bliss won the 25 free (19.21), 25 fly (24.82) and 25 back (25.43) on the boys’ side. Owen Bliss also picked up a third place finish in the 25 back on the boys’ side.
PV pole vault school
The Pioneer Valley Pole Vault School in Bernardston is open by appointment for individual and group lessons through the fall with negotiable rates.
Lessons will be taught by Pioneer Valley Regional School track and Northfield Mount Hermon pole-vault coach Jim Bell, himself a Masters pole vaulter.

Montague Mug Race
The 37th annual Montague Mug Race is scheduled for Aug. 19, with the 5.5-mile road race “blasting” off at 8:30 a.m. from the Village Common.
Pewter Mugs are awarded to top male and female finishers, and coffee mugs will go to top finishers of each division. T-shirts are given to the first 90 runners. The course is well marked with plenty of water stops, and features a few challenging hills with a run along the Connecticut River.
Now in its 13th year, the Mini Mug Race will kick off at 8:35 a.m. This course measures two miles and is a great scenic route around the Old South Cemetery. Both races will finish at the ball field. All runners are entered into drawing for local prizes.

Old Coach A 5K
Registration is underway for The Old Coach A 5K Run, intended to be a celebration of the coaching career of Southwick High School’s Dick Atkinson.
Coach A, a 1984 inductee into the Massachusetts State Track Coaches Association Hall of Fame, is a legend among runners in Western Massachusetts. During his 53-year tenure at Southwick he trained numerous WMass, State, and New England individual champions and earned numerous league and divisional team championships. Coach Atkinson is the founder of indoor track in the Pioneer Valley, a league which has grown to 27 teams. Proceeds from the race will be used to fund scholarships for runners and to promote youth running programs in Western Mass.
