WARWICK — Internationally renowned cellist Tony Rymer will perform at Town Hall on Sunday at 7 p.m.
According to the Warwick town website, Rymer will be accompanied by pianist Luis Ortiz, of the Eastman School of Music and The Juilliard School. Also performing with Rymer will be his sister, Marta Rymer, a violinist currently appearing in the off-Broadway production of “The Wild Women of Planet Wongo” as an actress, singer and dancer.
Rymer’s connection to Warwick is his mother, Cheri Robartes, who teaches piano in Boston and Warwick and who will play a piano trio with her son and daughter during the concert.
Rymer is currently participating in the Marlboro Music Festival at Marlboro College in Vermont, a series of performances by established and up-and-coming classical musicians, the website states. He won Detroit’s Sphinx Competition in 2009, which is open to all junior high-, high school- and college-age black and Latino string players living in the United States. Rymer also placed second at the George Enescu Festival in Bucharest, Romania.
Sunday’s performance is sponsored by the Warwick and Massachusetts Cultural Councils.
NORTHFIELD — Nurturing Northfield, a summer meals program, starts today.
The program, according to a post on the Nextdoor social networking service, is designed to support families whose children are eligible for free or reduced meals at Northfield Elementary School or Pioneer Valley Regional School. Families receive free breakfast and lunch items over the summer through Labor Day.
