Summer luncheon set for Wednesday

LEYDEN — The Council on Aging is holding a summer luncheon on Wednesday, May 17, from noon to 1:30 p.m. in the community room in Town Hall.

Hot dogs, salads and ice cream will be served. TRIAD representatives will also attend to provide information about the program’s senior services.

Leyden to hold townwide tag sale

LEYDEN — The annual townwide tag sale will be held Saturday, May 20, from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m., with a rain date of Sunday, May 21.

Residents can display their items at their homes or ask for space at Town Hall. The cost to participate is a portion of the fee needed to advertise the event, and maps to locate sellers will be made available at Town Hall Saturday morning.

Finance Committee seeks new member

BERNARDSTON — With the resignation of Stacey Mousseau, the Finance Committee has one opening, the Board of Selectmen announced in a Wednesday meeting.

Any resident interested in serving on the Finance Committee should send a letter briefly describing his or her reasons for wanting to serve to Town Moderator Geoffrey Wilson, P.O. Box 504, Bernardston, MA 01337.

Fire chief’s vehicle to be auctioned off

BERNARDSTON — The Board of Selectmen voted during a Wednesday meeting to auction off the fire chief’s vehicle, a 2006 Ford Explorer, as surplus property.

“The vehicle is not roadworthy in its present condition,” Board of Selectmen’s Chairman Stanley Garland said. Fire Chief Peter Shedd previously told The Recorder the vehicle had developed a transmission problem. Garland said it would be sold as is.
