Turners Falls, MA – Ernest L. “Ernie” Brown, 88, of Turners Falls, passed away peacefully on April 28, 2026, surround by his loving family, after a long and fulfilling life. Ernie was born in Montague, MA on September 11, 1937, the son of Frank Arland Brown and Arlene Lincoln (Payne) Brown. He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather who cherished time spent with his family.
Ernie was a familiar face at the Elks, where he enjoyed the company of many friends and proudly served in various officer roles over the years. He had a deep love for the town of Montague and took great pride in its rich history, dedicating many years of service as a member of the Zoning Board.
He is survived by his wife of 67 years, Carole (Campbell) Brown, his three sons, Michael Brown and his wife Kimberly of Gill, Mark Brown and his wife Liz of Colorado and Matthew Brown and his wife Susan of Greenfield. He also leaves behind four grandchildren, Stephanie, Kellie, Scott and Myles, as well as four great-grandchildren, Logan, Shaye, Brooks and Jett.
Ernie was predeceased by his father, Frank Arland Brown, his mother, Arlene Lincoln (Payne) Brown, and his brother Gordon Brown.
Funeral services will be private and held at the convenience of the family.
