ROWE — Incumbent Town Clerk Jennifer A. Morse is running for the Selectboard seat currently held by Walter Quist, and four others are in a race for the town clerk’s position in Rowe’s annual election, on Saturday.

The polls will be open in the Rowe Town Hall Fitness Center from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. that day.

Quist, who has served on the Selectboard for three years, is a former chairman of the Energy Committee and is Rowe’s appointed representative on the Mohawk Trail Woodlands Partnership. He said he has enjoyed his time on the Selectboard, but is stepping down to allow others to take on more responsibility in town government.

“There comes a time when you kind of need to let someone else step up to the plate,” Quist said.

Those seeking election for a three-year term as town clerk are Heidi Cousineau, Paul McLatchy III, Joanne Semanie and Katherine Sprague.

The following incumbents are seeking re-election to their three-year terms: Board of Assessors, Frederick “Rick” Williams; Cemetery Commission, Earl Carlow; School Committee, Susan Zavotka; and Park Commission, Laurie Pike.

The Rev. Douglas Wilson is seeking re-election to his five-year seat on the Planning Board, and Dan Burke is running for a one-year term on that board.

No nomination papers were received for the following positions: two open seats on the Finance Committee for three-year terms; and one open three-year seat as constable, library trustee and on the Board of Health.

Absentee ballot applications are available from the town website and at the town clerk’s office. These applications must be received in the town clerk’s office by noon Friday. Absentee ballots are for voters who can’t vote at the polls on election day due to: absence from the town on that day; physical disabilities; and religious beliefs.
