MONTAGUE — A woman charged with assault Tuesday night allegedly kicked a police officer who had responded to a domestic disturbance.
Highland Road resident Laura M. Ryan, 30, was arraigned in Greenfield District Court Wednesday on charges of assaulting a police officer, resisting arrest, and assault and battery on a household member.
According to the police report, officers were called following an altercation between Ryan and her boyfriend, during which she punched a hole through a window and struck him.
“Ryan appeared to be extremely intoxicated and was not steady on her feet,” the report notes. When changing handcuffs at the police station, she apparently became violent again and lashed out at one of the officers, striking a leg.
“Due to the disorderly nature of Ryan we were unable to read her Miranda Rights. Ryan would not comply with the booking process,” the report continues, noting an ambulance was called soon after when she swallowed a bobby pin.
The report says Ryan was held on $1,000 cash bail following the incident.
