BERNARDSTON — Brian Keir, a Planning Board and Green Committee member, has taken on another role as selectman, winning the seat in Monday night’s election.

Keir ran unopposed for the Board of Selectmen’s sole vacancy after Andrew Girard, who served on the Board of Selectmen for two years, announced he would not seek re-election this year, and would be stepping down due to time constraints.

Keir said previously he is happy to fill a need in town government, hoping to give back to the town where he’s lived since 1991.

“The town’s given a lot to us,” he said. “My kids were raised in this community and I want to give back to the community who helped to raise ’em.”

Keir said previously that as selectman he hoped to help the Fire Department reach a solution concerning expanding or constructing a new station, while still being fiscally conservative and keeping tax rates down.
