BUCKLAND — Zachary Turner of North St. is running unopposed for Selectboard in Monday’s (May 1) annual town election.

The polls at Town Hall, 17 State St., will be open from 10 a.m. until 8 p.m.

If elected, Turner will take the three-year seat of J. “Rob” Riggan, who is not seeking re-election.

Three write-in candidates have let Town Clerk Janice Purington know that they are running for election to positions that are open on the ballot. Marjorie “Jorie” MacLeod of Stone Road is seeking election to a three-year seat as Buckland library trustee. David Parrella of Cross Street is a write-in candidate for a three-year term on the Mohawk Trail Regional School District Committee.

Also, incumbent Constable Paul Herbert did not submit nomination papers, but will accept write-in votes for his re-election.

Candidates running unopposed on the ballot are: Board of Assessors (one-year term) Elizabeth Cerone; Town Moderator (one-year term) Phoebe Walker.

The following are seeking three-year terms of office: Selectboard, Zachary Turner; Board of Assessors, Pamela Guyette; Board of Heath, Terry Estes; Finance Committee (two seats), Benjamin Murray and George Lawrence Langford; town clerk, Janice Purington.
