BUCKLAND — Today, April 11, is the last day to register to vote in time to participate in the annual town election on May 1 or annual town meeting on May 3.
A special voter registration will be held from 2 to 4 p.m. and again from 7 to 8 p.m. in the Town Clerk Janice Purington’s office, in Town Hall.
BUCKLAND — Still need rabies shots for your pet? There will be another Rabies Clinic on Saturday, April 15, from 10 a.m. to noon at the Shelburne Falls Veterinary Hospital on Route 2 in Buckland.
The prices for the following vaccinations are as follows: Rabies vaccine $20; Lyme vaccine $40; distemper $30; feline distemper $25; feline leukemia $30.
SHELBURNE FALLS — The Shelburne Highway Department will be collecting bagged leaves on the Shelburne side of the village next Tuesday, April 18, weather permitting. Bags should be placed curbside by 7 a.m., and contain leaves only.
SHELBURNE FALLS — A “Solitude of Self” reading, in celebration of women’s rights activist Elizabeth Cady Stanton, will be held Friday, April 14, at 7 p.m. in the Arms Library. This reading of Stanton’s 1892 women’s rights address was originally scheduled for March 31, then postponed in anticipation of an ice-and-snow storm.
Local poets and writers, Edite Cunha, Marie Gauthier, Susie Patlove, Cindy Snow and the Rev. Marguerite Sheehan will be reading passages from Stanton’s work.
SHELBURNE — Town Clerk Joseph Judd’s office will be closed on the following days for the 2017 turkey hunting season: April 24 and 25, and May 1 and 4.
