I would like to share a few thoughts about my friend, Robert Root, who is running for selectman in Hawley. The election is Monday, May 1. I believe electing him is a very good choice for our town and will help us continue to move forward in the right direction.
Bob has served Hawley for a long time, including as deputy chief of the Fire Department. He has volunteered much time and effort to the community already. He also brings a great deal of knowledge and perspective to the table, especially in matters related to our state forests and emergency response at the operational level. The collegial professional relationships he has cultivated with many of his counterparts and other officials throughout our region, especially within the emergency services, will no doubt contribute to our efforts to work more closely and effectively with our neighbors, to the benefit of everyone.
Within Hawley, Bob is well liked and respected by a wide cross section of our community. As someone who knows him, that’s hardly a surprise. I know I will be able to work well with him on the Selectboard, should he be elected.
