SOUTH DEERFIELD — Emergency crews were called to Routes 5 and 10 Tuesday afternoon for a two-car accident that sent one person to the hospital.

In front of Richard’s Automotive just after 4 p.m., about five people — some of whom came from Douglas Auctioneers across the street — pushed a blue Honda CRV from the road into a parking lot. Not far away, a black Honda Civic was parked was parked in the entrance.

Deerfield Police officer Joe Mieczkowski said the driver of the CRV was turning quickly left out of the parking lot when he was hit by the northbound traveling Civic, which didn’t stop in time. The CRV sustained driver side damage.

After being hit, the CRV crossed the northbound lane and crashed into a mailbox.

The driver of the CRV was taken to the hospital as a precaution, Mieczkowski said. No one who was in the Civic was hurt. Along with police, South County EMS and the South Deerfield Fire Department was called to help out.
