SOUTH DEERFIELD — Three of the town’s biggest ongoing projects will continue public review at Monday’s Planning Board meeting.
The hearing, scheduled for 6 p.m. in the town office, will first review a proposed age 55-plus condo project at the base of Mount Sugarloaf, on Sugarloaf Street. New this time, the board will hear a report on the project from engineering consultant Sara Campbell.
Next will be a site plan review for Cumberland Farms intended new gas station at the corner of Routes 5 and 10 and Greenfield Road. Continued from last month’s meeting, a traffic report on the project’s potential impact will be presented.
Finally, New England Patient Networks will again present a proposed medical marijuana dispensary at 4 Greenfield Road. The Planning Board will review comments from town officials about the project.
Addressing the possibility of the medical dispensary becoming a retail pot store in the future — a question raised during February’s hearing — Jim Borghesani, director of communications for the Yes on 4 Campaign, said state law “allows no ‘as of right’ recreational sales for medical dispensaries. Medical dispensaries must apply for a recreational permit just like any other applicant. They actually face a higher burden because they would have to reorganize as a for-profit entity.”
Also of note, town Building Inspector Dick Calisewski will present a proposed zoning change to be considered for annual town meeting, to be held April 24.
