Two new Weight Loss Programs starting today: People usually have two weight loss obstacles … not enough “proper” exercise and nutrition issues. The Y has created two programs to help people lose weight in 2017: a weight loss exercise program and/or nutrition classes. People can enroll in one or both nine-week programs which begin today. There is a discount for registering for both programs and/or enrolling with a fitness partner. See Page 18 of “Brochure” at ymcaingreenfield.org for details or call Jayne at 773-3646, ext. 448.
Lifeguard Training: Feb. 28 to April 20 the YMCA will be offering its annual Red Cross life-guarding course. This course is for strong swimmers ages 15 and over. The certificate includes standard first aid and CPR for the professional. This 36-hour course includes lectures and pool time. Participants must attend all classes on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 6:30 to 9 p.m. This course provides excellent job opportunities at local pools, ponds and lakes. Fee are: Y members $350 and non-members $385. Enrollment is limited; call 773-3646, ext. 0 or ext. 435.
Y Family Memberships: The Y provides one adult and two adult family memberships. These memberships include all children under the age of 21, all living in the same household. A sliding fee scale is available based on household size and total household gross income. This scale can cover 20 to 70 percent of regular fees. A two adult family plus children could pay as little as $19 per month by automatic bank draft. With a membership, families can come to the Y every day and play together or each do their own activities. Child Watch for 8 weeks to 5 years old is available for an extra fee. For family fun activity options see Page 8 of the “Brochure” at ymcaingreenfield.org or call 773-3646 for more info.
Trivia Night to benefit Y Veteran’s Programs: On Saturday, Feb. 25 the YMCA is hosting a fun trivia night to raise financial aid dollars to support its Veteran’s programs. The event will be at the Moose Lodge in Greenfield, doors open at 6:15 p.m. and the first round starts at 7 p.m. sharp. People should put together teams of eight players. The entry fee is $10 per person. The winning team will receive $100. Teams should bring their own snacks. There will also be Y raffle prizes. Last year this event sold out so register early at the YMCA Welcome Center. For more info or to sponsor a table call Jayne at 773-3646, ext. 448.
Eight Birthday Party Options: The Y has eight birthday party options offered at 14 different times each week for children ages 1 to 14. The party options are swimming, scuba, game room, inflatable obstacle course, gaga ball, climbing wall, gymnastics center and gym games. The Y has two rooms for the cake/present portion of the parties. See Page 5 of the “Brochure” at ymcaingreenfield.org for details. Call 773-3646, ext. 447, to schedule a party. Please plan ahead because times do fill up.
Parent/Child Classes: Parent/child gym or swim classes help young children develop important gross motor skills early in their lives which can carry over into other sports in later years as well as introduce them to the water. In addition, the classes are a good way for parents to meet other parents. The Y offers four gym classes for ages 1 to 3 years and four swim classes for ages 6 months to 5 years. For complete info see Pages 11 and 13 of the “Brochure” at ymcaingreenfield.org or call 773-3646, ext. 0
