LEYDEN — February’s soup and sandwich lunch, hosted by the Leyden Council on Aging, will be held Thursday, from noon to 1 p.m. in Town Hall.
According to the February Leyden Life newsletter, the meal includes chili, cornbread, salad and a light dessert.
NORTHFIELD — Warwick Police Chief David Shoemaker was appointed by the Northfield Selectboard during a Tuesday meeting to serve as a reserve officer for the Northfield Police Department, term expiring Dec. 31, 2017.
NORTHFIELD – The Pioneer Valley Regional School committee appointed members William Wahlstrom and Sharon Fontaine to the HEART Committee, or the committee for “Honest Education and Retaining Trust,” during a meeting Thursday at Pioneer.
Wahlstrom and Fontaine will join three members from each district town and Superintendent Ruth Miller on the HEART Committee. The committee is responsible for considering topics such as the physical state of the schools, transportation, class size, special education, administrative costs and school choice to recommend improvements that would make the district more financially sustainable.
