GREENFIELD — A Greenfield couple has been sentenced following a Northwestern District Anti-Crime Task Force drug investigation that also uncovered animal cruelty.
Tony Carr, 49, was sentenced to three years in state prison on July 16, while Amber Judd, 40, received three years of probation on Sept. 24.
“This case is a great example of the swift and collaborative efforts of our law enforcement agencies,” Assistant District Attorney Aidan Lanciani said in a statement. “We would like to thank lead investigator Detective Timothy Boland of the Deerfield Police Department, the Northwestern District Anti-Crime Task Force, and our partners at the Franklin County Sheriff’s Office Animal Control, including animal control officers Kyle Dragon and Heather Sonn. Their assistance was instrumental in ensuring the safe removal of the two dogs from the inhumane conditions at Carr’s residence.”
According to the Northwestern District Attorney’s Office, Carr pleaded guilty in Franklin County Superior Court to two counts of animal cruelty, two counts of conspiracy to violate drug law and single counts of trafficking in cocaine, possession of clonazepam with intent to distribute, unlawful possession of a firearm, unlawful possession of ammunition, unlawful possession of a large-capacity feeding device, improper storage of a firearm and improper storage of a large-capacity feeding device.
Judd pleaded guilty to two counts of conspiracy to violate drug law and single counts of possession of cocaine with intent to distribute and possession of clonazepam with intent to distribute, according to the DA’s office.
Carr was represented by attorney Nora Leovich, of Fitchburg. Judd was represented by attorney David Rountree of Greenfield. The sentences were jointly recommended by the prosecution and the defense.
