GREENFIELD — The 11th annual YMCA Girls Day Out is back and it’s bigger. On Sunday from noon to 3 p.m., the YMCA is holding a special free event for “girls ages 10 to 100.”
Dawn Dorsey, YMCA health and wellness director, said, “Girls, women, mothers and grandmothers of all ages are invited to come and pamper themselves this Sunday.”
Participants can try a variety of group exercise classes from noon to 3 p.m., including, Open Dance, Groove Together (Dance Fitness), Bollywood, Zumba and Partners Yoga. Those 15 and older can soak in the Jacuzzi, lap swim and have a free chair massage. Those 12 and older can try scuba at 2 p.m.
According to fitness director Jayne Trosin, 36 local vendors who specialize in products and services important to women will be present. Some of the products are: jewelry, beading, cookware, make-up, nails, cooking, handbags, candles and tarot card reading.
At noon in the Y’s Social Room, chefs from the Franklin County Technical School will be leading cooking demonstrations. Other cooking demonstrations will be “Cooking with Kale” by Trouble Mandeson at 12:30 and Taylor’s Restaurant at 2. There will also be additional presentations; “Healthy Gut” at 1 with Dr. Nitya Eisenheim, “Women’s Winter Detox” at 1:30 with Becca Sarich and YMCA weight loss programs at 2:30.
Girls 10 to 14 must be with an adult female relative or guardian. The Game Room/Kid Fit Center will be available for free supervised play for boys and girls 5 to 12.
Dawn Dorsey, Health & Wellness Director said, “Women spend so much time taking care of others, they put their own needs on the back burner. This event is designed to show women that exercise/wellness is fun, they can take the time to do it, and they will be comfortable at the YMCA regardless of their age, ability or body type.”

Girls Day Out is free and open to the public. There will be $500 in door prizes and refreshments sold by the Y’s Gymnastic Team to help the team go to meets. The first 100 people can enter to win $100.
