Westfield State University women’s basketball player Jill Valley was named Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference Player of the Week on Monday.

The Mahar Regional School graduated averaged 19.5 points, 3.5 rebounds and 2.5 steals while shooting 55 percent from the floor and 44 percent from 3-point range for the Owls (11-6), who went 2-0 on the week and remained unbeaten in league play at 5-0.

It marks the fourth time this season that Valley has earned this honor.

Westfield State heads to Worcester State on Wednesday at 7:30.

Tigers results

The Greenfield YMCA Tumbling Tigers attended the Funomenal Flippers meet over the weekend in Glastonbury, Conn.

The Xcel Silver team finished third with a score of 109.25. Clara Fritz won the all-around title (37.05) in the age 12 division by winning the bars (9.5) and placing second on the vault (9.35) and beam (9.2). Aiden Wall was second on the beam (9.25) and floor (9.15), and third all-around in the ages 10 and 11 division. Cassie Cloutier was third on the beam, and Haylee Tuttle was third on the floor.

The Xcel Platinum team also finished third at the meet with a score of 100. Katie Adams was second all-around (32.35) in the ages 9 through 12 division by winning the beam (8.4) and placing second on the vault (8.1), bars (7.2) and floor (8.65). Emily Braverman tied for second on the beam (8.6), took second on the floor (9.1) and was third all-around in the ages 15-plus division, while Karma Phillips won the vault (9.15) and was third on the beam.

The Xcel Gold team took fifth with a score of 105.75. Grayson Bowse was second all-around (36.25) at ages 9 through 11, as she took second on the vault (8.9) and was third on the beam and floor. Cynsi Roy-Clark tied for first on the floor (9.4) at ages 15-plus, and tied for third on the bars.

The Level 7 team took fourth with a score of 99.75 as Kendeall Fox tied for third in the ages 14-plus division. At Level 4, age 10, Kiarah Pinkham placed third on the floor.

Frontier girls’ win

Georgia Sackery scored 14 points to lead Frontier to a 23-16 win over Most Holy Redeemer of Hadley in a Christian Youth Organization grades 5 and 6 basketball game.

Logan Landmark and Cadence Wells-Robinson each scored 4 points in the win.

Youth hockey

J & J Hockey sweeps

Ben Carlan had a hat trick and Billy Woodall added one goal Sunday to lead Franklin County Hockey Association J & J Hockey Snipers to a 4-1 win over Ludlow in a Greater Springfield League Peewee East Division hockey game.

Chris Phelps and Dylan Mahar each added assists.

Will Cowie made 24 saves in net and Jaxon Lavallee, Mahar, Aydyn Clayton, Ethyn Clayton and Josh Bordeaux played well on defense.

• On Saturday, the Snipers defeated Westfield, 3-2, at Amelia Park Arena in Westfield.

Will Cowie opened the scoring with his first career goal, and Billy Woodall scored the second of his two goals with 4 minutes, 58 seconds left in the third period for the game-winner. Chris Phelps and Jamison Baleno added assists and Josh Bordeaux made 13 saves in net.

Dillon Chevy Vipers fall

Dylan Archer and Shane Prusak each scored on Sunday but the FCHA Dillon Chevrolet Vipers dropped a 3-2 decision to Amherst in a GSL Peewee North Division hockey game at the Mullins Center Practice Rink in Amherst.

Eathon Bryant and Trevor Kuchieski each had assists. Trevor Parkinson made 23 saves in net, and Hunter Smith, Jayson Smith, Lila Roche and MJ Paulin all played well on defense.

• On Saturday, Prusak, Kam Tompkins and Matt Lavoine scored but the Vipers fell to Holy Name Black, 4-3, at the Olympia in West Springfield.

Sam Knight and Lavoine each had an assist. Trevor Parkinson made 29 saves in net.

The Deerfield Academy girls’ squash team moved to 6-0 with a 7-0 victory over Loomis-Chaffee School Monday afternoon.
