CHARLEMONT — The next Small Town Summit will be held Thursday at 7 p.m. in the Hawlemont Elementary School, 10 School St.
At last month’s meeting, town officials from several western Mass. towns drafted a list of legislative priorities, including: broadband, rural schools, Open Meeting Law quorum requirements, ZIP code-derived financial complications for towns with multiple ZIP codes, and pending legislation for Charlemont ambulance service. Thursday’s meeting will focus on drafting bills that address these priorities, according to Beth Bandy, who chairs Charlemont’s Board of Selectmen.
SHELBURNE FALLS — The Art Garden is hosting a new community exhibit, to be called “Small Things Matter,” and is looking for “little things” the community would like to put on exhibit.
All art objects (including poems and written pieces) must be no bigger than 5 inches in height, width and depth. The submission deadline is Wednesday.
The theme is: What are some of the small things in your life that make a difference in the quality of that life?
“Small Things Matter” will be part of the Art Garden’s Winter HooPla event, which opens on Saturday, Jan. 28. The Art Garden is located at 14 Depot St., next to the Shelburne Falls Trolley Museum.
