Amherst 8, Turners Falls 0 — Nathan Masteralexis scored five goals, four during a six-goal first-period by Amherst Regional High School, and the Hurricanes dominated Turners Falls High School, 8-0, in a Fay-Wright Division hockey game Saturday night at Collins-Moylan Arena in Greenfield.
The Indians were playing without an experienced goalie due to an illness, so Mike McGoldrick put on pads and did his best in the spot start in net. It did not help McGoldrick that Amherst crushed Turners in the shot department, peppering McGoldrick with 46 to the Indians’ 14. McGoldrick was able to turn aside 38 on the day, but the first period was a disaster and Amherst jumped out to a 6-0 lead.
Masteralexis got the Hurricanes on the board just over a minute into the game. Then Jake Balderston made it 2-0 just over three minutes in. Masteralexis made it 4-0 with a pair of consecutive goals in the middle of the period, and added his fourth of the frame with 6:52 to play in the first. Max Hopley also scored in the first period for Amherst.
Masteralexis and Brand Feldman each scored in the second period. Feldman also had three assists, while Balderston notched two assists. Clayton Bowser stopped 11 shots in the win.
McGoldrick made 38 saves in the loss.
Belchertown 5, Greenfield 1 — Cam Cass scored twice to lead Belchertown High School to a 5-1 win over Greenfield High School Saturday in a Fay-Wright hockey game at Collins-Moylan Arena in Greenfield.

Evan Simmons scored on an assist from Sarah O’Sullivan in the first period for the lone Green Wave goal.
Kyle Greene stopped 20 shots to pick up the win. Finn O’Connor turned aside 28 shots in the loss.

Skyler Rouse was also in the finals at 126 and his bout went the distance against Toll Gate’s Datyn Deasler, but Rouse came out on the losing end of a 13-9 score.
The third Eagle wrestler to make the finals was Chris Ludwig at 145 pounds and he suffered a 3-1 loss to Dana Tripp of Bristol County Agricultural High School.

The Eagles also had a pair of wrestlers fall in the third-place match to settle for fourth. Jordan Bashaw dropped an 8-2 decision to Kyle Brown of Toll Gate at 152 pounds (the second time Brown beat Bashaw on the day) to finish fourth, and Brody Wood lost an 8-1 decision to Ethan Hill of Nashoba in the consolation finals at 170 pounds.
