CHARLEMONT — A 17-year-old girl was airlifted by LifeFlight to Baystate Medical Center in Springfield Friday afternoon following a skiing accident at Berkshire East Mountain Resort.

The call for paramedics went out not long before 1:30 p.m. According to Colrain paramedic JoAnne Deady, the girl sustained a head injury and lost consciousness.

She was transported in a Colrain ambulance to Hawlemont Regional Elementary School in Charlemont, where a LifeFlight helicopter was able to land shortly after 2 p.m. The Charlemont and Shelburne Falls fire departments assisted to secure the landing area.

The helicopter transported the girl to Baystate Medical Center in Springfield. No further information was available about her identity or condition.
