Greenfield, Dec. 27

1:50 p.m. — Caller states a male had taken her wallet from the Armory Street Apartments on Dec. 23, and thinks he took her wallet when he was escorted to her apartment by police on 12/23/16; the reporting person also says a 209A violation by text message happened on 12/24/16; she is en route to the police station to complete a statement.

2:58 p.m. — Accident at the Route 91 rotary; two vehicles involved on the Applebee’s side of the rotary; officer found it to be a possible minor accidental; mutual aid was canceled; no injuries, and Medcare is obtaining patient refusals; one vehicle had to be towed.

3:33 p.m. — Accident at Big Y foods on the Mohawk Trail where the caller says they were rear ended by a black pick up in the area, and it left to go onto the highway; she noted no damage, and no injuries

3:43 p.m. — Officers on Bank Row to serve warrants; arrested was Branden Lee Stebbins, 24, of Avenue A, Turners Falls, on five warrants.

5:22 p.m. — Accident reported at Federal Street and Forest Avenue, officer found it to be minor damage to both vehicles, and no injuries reported.

9:15 p.m. — Breaking and entering attempt on Standish Court; reported a person came home and found his door is kicked in; he was advised to leave the apartment; unknown if anyone is still inside; officers responded and found no entry was made.

Montague, Dec. 27

2:09 a.m. — Employee of Food City just got to work and noticed that there were three people sitting by the ATM at the Greenfield Savings Bank location, and doesn’t know what they are doing; he believes there are two males and one female; officers spoke to the people there, who were just using the ATM for a deposit.

9:18 a.m. — Shelburne Control got a call from Fourth Street for the ACO regarding an eviction; the ACO responded and removed one cat, and it will be brought to the Dakin Humane Society in Leverett.

10:42 a.m. — Report of a past hit-and-run at the bus stop in front of the Montague Mini Mart on Main Street; the bus stop was damaged and there is a piece of what appears to be a tail light cover nearby; officer was advised and will check.

12:53 p.m. — Report of rapid gunfire that sounds to be coming from the gravel pit behind the reporting person’s residence; the reporting person says it goes on for hours at a time, and has been happening for the past week or two; officers en route and Sunderland Police will respond as well due to the close proximity to the town line, and believes the gravel pit in question is on the Sunderland side of the line; one of our officer’s sat in the area that the reporting person described, and didn’t hear any gun shots; but then checked other spots in that area, and did hear gun shots coming from the area of Whitney’s Way, which is wooded, and it is still hunting season; officer also advised the shots could be coming from the East Deerfield firing range; Sunderland officer checked a few locations in her town as well as a small section of Leverett, but didn’t hear any gun shots while in the area, but a few people she spoke with has heard them.

1:59 p.m. — Caller from a person on Greenfield Road, formerly known as the Night Kitchen, requests an officer regarding a verbal altercation he had with a co-worker on Friday Dec. 23, during which the co-worker reportedly pulled a knife on him; officer to investigate.

Greenfield, Dec. 28

12:45 a.m. — Caller from School Street states he can hear a male and female yelling at each other, and he can hear items being thrown as well; officers found it was verbal argument between a girlfriend and boyfriend of four months, and both live together; female with mascara on the face who denied anything physical; the female had mascara on her face, but refused to elaborate any physical contact, and refused to elaborate what the verbal argument was about; she was advised of 209A rights, which she refused.

7:42 a.m. — Minor accident at Cumberland Farms on Federal Street, two cars involved; officer on the scene and handling.

10:36 a.m. — Caller states a sign has been hit and damaged on School Street; officer found the Moose Lodge sign overhanging the location that was knocked by a tractor-trailer; one wire was holding the sign when became dislodged; building maintenance is in the process of re-hanging the sign.

11:40 a.m. — Breaking and entering into a motor vehicle reported from Silver Street location where the caller says about $270 in cash and a pack of gum were stolen overnight. Report issued.

Montague, Dec. 28

12:06 a.m. — Female caller reporting loud music from an apartment building on L Street, and she requested quiet for the night, as her children are being awakened by the music; officers en route, and spoke with the people involved; they were advised of the complaint.

8:08 a.m. — Officer on patrol advises of a tree sticking out in the westbound lane of Wendell Road; DPW was notified.

10:43 a.m. — ACO advises he has placed a trap at a Fourth Street location to try and catch a cat that was left behind by a previous tenant.

10:57 a.m. — 911 abandoned call from L Street; officers checked on the female there and found all OK, no problems found and reported an accidental dial.

Greenfield, Dec. 29

3:45 a.m. — Accident on Hope Street near the courthouse construction and the Body Shop and Recorder parking lots across the way; an officer reports the vehicle is in the parking lot between the two businesses; operator reports a hand injury and air bag deployment; fire department and Medcare notified. Fire command standing by for a tow; officer learned an operator not paying attention struck a jersey barrier next to the court house construction; the reporting person says the car drove straight into the barrier, and then backed up into the parking lot; Medcare on scene; tow on scene.

8:20 a.m. — A syringe was found behind the vehicle belonging to the reporting person at the Winslow building parking lot on Wells Street; the syringe was secured.

9:05 a.m. — Accident reported near High and Smith streets; one vehicle had minor driver’s side front bumper damage, second vehicle had minor passenger’s side front bumper damage; one vehicle reportedly pulled out of the parking lot at Smith Street and stopping at the roadway, and collided with the second car which was on Smith Street; officer assisted with information exchange; a citation for failure to use care in starting was issued to the driver of the first vehicle.

9:21 a.m. — Larceny reported on Conway Street where the reporting person says two packages are missing from her home, and she has confirmed with the shipping companies that both were delivered; officer found no answer at the door, and no answer on the phone; the reporting person then called police, and said she is being reimbursed by Amazon (the seller) and that no action is needed, and only wanted to have the call information documented.

11:10 a.m. — Report of forgery or fraud as the reporting person said he received two credit cards in the mail that he didn’t apply for, an officer spoke with the person in the lobby and a report was taken.

1:19 p.m. — Accident on Adams Road where one vehicle struck a tree; unknown injuries, but the operator is out of the vehicle; operator says she slid, avoiding a car doing a U-turn; no injuries, but a mailbox was struck; a tow truck pulled the vehicle out of the snow.

1:30 p.m. — Officers serving a warrant at the temporary court house on Munson Street; arrested was Carmen Wiley, 39, of Webber Road, Whately, on the warrant.

1:37 p.m. — Caller from Shattuck Street reports a female there intentionally cut her wrists; the call was transferred to Medcare, and she was taken to the hospital.

3:30 p.m. — Hazardous condition on Bank Row where there were reports of the road being impassable; officers found the road appears to be sanded and the complaint was likely results from vehicles not designed or unable to handle road conditions.

3:43 p.m. — Fraud reported from Long Avenue where the caller says numerous credit cards are being applied for/opened, in his name; officer found a Target credit card was opened under the reporting person’s name, report issued.

5:37 p.m. — Welfare check on Thayer Road where a female was making calls to her former employer; officer made contact with the female, who is alone, and states she is scared; no other action required.

5:45 p.m. — Caller requests police check on a female person at Main and Federal; officer checked on the female pan handling, and she indicates she is OK and dressed for the weather.

5:50 p.m. — Callers requesting a welfare check for a person panhandling at Big Y Foods plaza on the Mohawk Trail, officer sent, gone on arrival.

5:55 p.m. — Officer checking on a person panhandling at the Mohawk Trail and Colrain Road; the person is going to head home for the night due to danger from plows and cold.
