Greenfield, Dec. 26

9:33 a.m. — Fire in a structure on Pierce Street where the reporting person says smoke is coming from the back of her computer; she was advised to evacuate, if safe to do so, and await the fire department; smoke conditions in the building, and the fire department is committed; request for the town building and electrical inspectors; the home owners electrician is also now on the scene.

10:04 a.m. — Report of a breaking and entering at a Devens Street location and the reporting person then received a call from one of his workers, stating the door was kicked in, and all the tools were gone, officers sent and found it happened sometime over the weekend; the interior door to the apartment being rehabbed was the one forced open; missing was a Rigid brand of drills and chargers, in red and black bags, a Skil saw and other tools.

5:15 p.m. — Traffic stop on the Route 91 rotary; investigation led to arrest of Jorge L. Dejesus, 25, of Holyoke, charged with possessing a Class A drug, to wit, heroin with intent to distribute, distributing a Class A, drug, to wit, heroin, subsequent offense, and conspiracy to violate drug laws, in Greenfield; a summons is being processed for a 24-year-old from Springfield, operator of the vehicle, for motor vehicle lights violation, impeded operation of a motor vehicle, and conspiracy to violate drug laws.

5:23 p.m. — Accident reported at the Mohawk Trail and River Street, with two vehicles involved; call came from Northampton state police who attempted a transfer, but the call was dropped; officer requested the Fire Department for fluids and possible smoke from a vehicle; one vehicle was towed; services rendered.

6:52 p.m. — Accident at the area of Four Corners Wine and Spirits on Federal Street, where the clerk reports a vehicle just struck the building out front (flower boxes) the reporting person says he observed the occupant consuming alcohol in the vehicle; there is now a passenger inside the store attempting to purchase alcohol; investigation led to arrest of Zachary M. Menard, 20, of Wilson Hill Road, Colrain, charged with being a person under 21 in possession of liquor; bail set at $100 plus the fee.

7:16 p.m. — Suspicious activity at dollar General on Federal Street; vehicle that left that area was stopped at Turners Falls Road and French King Highway; one in custody, and investigation led to arrest of David Eric Rose, 18, of Route 2, Charlemont, charged with motor vehicle lights violation, being a person under 21 in possession of liquor, no license in possession. and for carrying a dangerous weapon.

9:27 p.m. — Hazardous condition at the John W. Olver Transit Center on Olive Street where a motorist called to say there is a Peter Pan Bus struck in the parking lot of the transit center, stuck due to icy condition; officer called and spoke to a key holder for this location, and she said she would get someone out to sand.

10:29 p.m. — Accident reported at Rays Cycle Center Inc., on Wells Street. The owner of the building reported he slid into his building, resulting in damage to the window and some concrete; no response is necessary, and just wanted police to know in case they notice it, and need to know it wasn’t a hit-and-run. He will deal with the insurance company.

Montague, Dec. 26

2:05 p.m. — Loud noise disturbance reported at an apartment building on Avenue A where the reporting person says that he can hear his neighbors laughing, and assumes that means they are up to no good; officer called the man back, and advised him of options.

3:47 p.m. — Accident reported on Millers Falls Road near Rubin’s Auto Repairs; one car accident, and tow truck is needed; the tow truck was on scene, but in the end the vehicle was determined to be able to be driven and no tow needed. Report taken.

7:11 p.m. — Accident with some property damage at Turnpike Road and Millers Falls Road where one car went into a snow bank; officers were able to push the vehicle out of the snow, and on the way.

Orange, Dec. 26

3 p.m. — A female from East River Street requested an officer about a case involving fraud; the caller advised that her son’s girlfriend forged her signature, and took her medications from CVS Pharmacy in Athol; she was advised to report the incident to the Athol Police Department .

3:20 p.m. — Calling person reported his girlfriend made threats to jump off the French King Bridge; Erving Police responded but with negative contact; a ping was done on the phone, last showing her to be in the area of the bridge; Erving Police to monitor; officers responded to her residence and spoke with her son who last saw her at 9 p.m.; at 11:10 officers followed up with the son but he hasn’t seen or heard from her.

4:15 p.m. — Fraud reported by a male from Chestnut Hill Road who requested to speak with an officer about case of identity fraud; the reporting person said he had received a Kohl’s credit card bill in the amount of $981.22, a card on which he didn’t apply for, nor utilized; the person said that the charges were made online and that the merchandise was shipped to Alabama; the person was instructed to contact the credit cards company; fraud division to settle the claim.

7:30 p.m. — Officer wanted on Memory Lane as parents requested assistance with their out of control 12-year-old daughter and they advised she won’t listen and is being disrespectful; the parents were advised of their options in obtaining assistance through the school, counseling, and DCF etc. Officer spoke with the child and instructed her to apologize to her parents; the child reluctantly apologized.

Greenfield, Dec. 27

12:09 a.m. — Request that police check on welfare of two people at Bank Row and Olive Street; officer advised seeing two males sleeping on the front steps of the abandoned brick building there; both were identified and they were advised this was private property and both were moved along.

8:54 a.m. — Despondent person reported from the Franklin County Emergency Shelter from where the reporting person says a male just left their location making vague suicidal statements, but no plan in place, and no weapon on this person; he had made statements in the past; and has had multiple medical issues ongoing; left and headed toward the Route 91 rotary on foot; caller received word a short while later that the reported male being sought is sitting across from the house of correction on Elm Street; officers were unable to locate the male, gone on arrival, and area search was negative.

10 a.m. — Despondent person reported on West Street where the reporting person says a male has been depressed and drinking large amounts of alcohol the last several days, but hasn’t had anything today; now he is making suicidal statements, but no means in place, the male is also vomiting; call was transferred to Medcare, and the male was turned over to Medcare, and they were transporting him to Baystate Franklin Medical Center.

11:30 a.m. — Suspicious activity on Park Avenue where the officers found two vehicles; the reporting person received a call from her son reporting someone was knocking on their door, and he saw at least two people walking around the house, but unknown to the son; the son is in the bedroom on the second floor with the family dog; he was unable to provide a description and didn’t see any vehicle in the driveway; officers found it to be an employee from the assessor’s office, all was OK.

11:35 a.m. — Caller reports a male came into Charlene Manor Nursing Home on Colrain Road yesterday and made threats about shooting up the place if he had a gun; the male also mentioned he knows where an employee lives; officer returned the call and spoke with the caller. She stated that the male, when at the nursing home, became upset over past treatment there, and said prior to leaving, “If I had a gun I could come and shoot up the place.” Officer spoke to the male by going to his house, and the male denied saying anything about a gun or shooting; he stated he would stay away.
