3:04 p.m. — An accident without injuries occurred by Stop & Shop, located at 89 French King Highway, between a gray 2006 Toyota Camry and a black 2007 Ford Focus.
8:17 p.m. — A caller at Green Fields Market, located at 144 Main St., reported a shorter black man in a black hoodie and with short hair was in the building, threatening customers and employees, and eating food out of the containers. The responding officer advised the man to leave, and he complied. The officer provided staff with the man’s identifying information so they could process a trespass order.
9:33 a.m. — A caller at Garden Cinemas, located at 361 Main St., reported losing a set of keys — a Toyota key with a key fob, and a couple of extra keys — somewhere between Garden Cinemas and the parking lot across the street.
9:42 p.m. — Caller from Oak Hill Road reports what she thinks were gun shots in the area, but the caller didn’t see anyone or vehicles in the area; officer checked the area but nothing found.
11:37 p.m. — Traffic stop on High Street; officer observed a vehicle quickly swerve off the roadway near the intersection of High and Silver streets, the vehicle struck a snow bank and continued south on High Street, where he was stopped in area of the bicycle shop; investigation led to arrest of Bruce M. Tamarin, 46, of Brattleboro, Vt., charged with operating under the influence of drugs, operating recklessly so as to endanger, and marked lanes violation; the vehicle was towed; the man’s wife arrived and bailed him out, bail was for personal recognizance, and fee.
12:51 a.m. — Fire reported in an auto on Route 91 between Exit 26 and 27; Fire Department dispatched as well as an officer; the fire was located under the undercarriage of the vehicle but no personal injury; fire command and an officer report the vehicle is fully involved and the right hand travel lane needs to be blocked off; fire command advises the highway will need to be salted after the vehicle is extinguished; fire under control now; fire knocked down and overhauling; state police now on scene; command then reports one lane of traffic open; vehicle was a 2007 Jeep Liberty; officer made contact with driver and passenger, who were OK, and Medcare was released. Vehicle towed.
10:55 a.m. — Mutual aid requested of Greenfield Fire Department at structure fire on High Street in Turners Falls. Two units dispatched. (Found to be a chimney fire.)
11:55 a.m. — Officers responded to Baystate Franklin Medical Center for a male attempting to cut his wrists; he is with another male, and hospital security was with them, two units dispatched and services rendered.
1:37 p.m. — Traffic stop at High and Main streets; erratic action by a known subject; Medcare on scene for transport to the hospital on a Section 12 process. The gray Honda Accord is parked on Main near High Street.
2:32 p.m. — Larceny reported on Grove Street where the caller says a Tan Trek mountain type bike was stolen off the front porch within the last six hours; it has a cycle computer mount on the handlebars wired to the front wheel, black duct tape on the seat; the reporting person later called back to advise the bike isn’t missing; the patrol officer was notified.
3:52 p.m. — Despondent person reported on Plain Road, officers cleared and en route to Baystate Franklin Medical Center with a Section 12 for suicidal statements.
9:06 p.m. — Disturbance reported at Bradford Drive where the caller says her downstairs neighbors have been yelling at each other for over an hour; but the officer found no disturbance occurring, and learned the incident was not as reported.
11:55 p.m. — Disturbance reported on Wells Street where the male and female refused to open the door to speak with officers; both are highly intoxicated and belligerent; the female was highly agitated, and continued to scream after officers requested that they keep the noise level down; both insisted they were OK; the female stated they, “have the right to kill (us),” if we entered the apartment; unable to reason with the involved people after about 10 minutes standing outside the door. Both are being summons for disturbing the peace.
10:44 a.m. — Traffic hazard reported from North Leverett Road where the reporting person advises of icy conditions there, and also advised that she passed a vehicle that was off the road, but another motorist stopped to try to pull them out; officer sent, and then requested the DPW to sand the road there; the officer went the distance of North Leverett Road and confirmed several icy spots in need of sand, but he was unable to locate any vehicles off the road.
11:20 a.m. — Officer stopped a vehicle on Avenue A, and gave a verbal warning to an operator for failure to yield for an emergency vehicle; the operator had failed to yield for a fire truck, with its lights on, in the opposite lane, that was responding to a working fire (Found to be a chimney fire on High Street, Turners Falls.)
12:09 p.m. — Accident on Lake Pleasant Road where the caller reports a motor vehicle on its side, but no apparent injury, and the operator is still in the vehicle; it’s off the road into the woods, just short of the village center; conference with Medcare, and patrol units advised; officer initially confirmed the location will be in the Montague Center Fire Department, and Shelburne Control was advised to contact them, but then an officer updated the location and found it was in the Turners Falls Fire Department district, and Control was advised to cancel Montague Center Fire Department; after investigation the operator will be summoned to court. Vehicle towed.
3:07 p.m. — Assault and battery reported on Third Street where the reporting person states there is a female attacking an elderly male in the area of the F.L. Roberts gas station; Medcare contacted, as a precaution, and then cancelled when the officer found nothing in the area; spoke to the store clerk who stated nothing was seen or heard; officers cleared but will patrol the area.
