For those of us fortunate enough to experience the Pioneer Valley Symphony’s Holiday Pops Concert at Greenfield High School on Dec. 17, it couldn’t have been more enjoyable.

The program included some familiar holiday works, as one might expect, but was enhanced by rousing renditions of seasonal compositions and mystical works, including the theme from “Game of Thrones” and the “Harry Potter Symphonic Suite.”

We are so lucky to have this jewel of an organization in our midst. Award-winning and widely reputed Music Director/Conductor Paul Phillips, in his 23rd year as an innovative and vibrant leader of the PVS, continues to bring exciting, versatile and enjoyable programming and calls upon many devoted and talented volunteer musicians to produce outstanding music for the enjoyment of our community.

Saturday’s concert was greatly enhanced by including more than 30 members of the PVS Youth Orchestra, and hundreds of superb voices of the PVS Chorus, the Greenfield High Select Choir and the Franklin County Community Chorus. Such a strong and stirring musical spectacle! Thank you PVS, Maestro Paul Phillips and the many wonderful leaders and musicians who helped to wrap us in a warm and upbeat holiday spirit.
