In 2015, photographer Matthew Cavanaugh of Greenfield spent some personal time photographing two special places in Franklin County that have always captivated him: the Heath Fair and Clarkdale Fruit Farms.
The photographs he took are now display at Hope and Olive restaurant on the corner of Hope and Olive streets in Greenfield through Feb. 19.
“Both the Heath Fair and Clarkdale have been around for 100 years and are among the things that make this place so great,” he said. “Many thanks to the Heath Fair and Clarkdale Fruit Farms for allowing me to spend time with them.”
Cavanaugh is a freelance photojournalist and wedding photographer. He grew up in West Springfield and is graduated from Greenfield Community College. He spent six years in the White House press corps in Washington, D.C., where he documented many historic events, including the election and inauguration of Pres. Barak Obama.
Cavanaugh’s work has appeared in The New York Times, The Washington Post and The Boston Globe.
The show will close with a reception on Sunday, Feb. 19 from 3 to 5 p.m. in the restaurant. The closing reception is free and open to the public.
