Meghan Davis won three events on Friday but her Mohawk Trail Regional High School girls’ indoor track & field team suffered a 56-39 loss to West Springfield High School during the early session of the second meet of the indoor track season at Smith College in Northampton.

Davis aced the three distance running events, taking first in the 1,000 meters (3 minutes, 28.59 seconds), the mile (5:49.55) and the 2-mile (11:54.58) to lead the Warriors on the day. Teammate Riley Haward finished seventh in the mile in 6:20.21.

Lily Wickland-Shearer took sixth in the 55 meter hurdles (10.70) for Mohawk, and was also ninth in the long jump (13-2¼). Gabby Shean was seventh in the shot put at 26-6¾.

One person pushing Davis all day was Mahar Regional School’s Emma Currier, who finished second in the 2-mile (12:52.83) and fourth in the 1,000 (3:36.54) as the Senators lost to Ludlow High School (50-45) and West Springfield (55-40). Mahar actually had two other runners finish in the top 10 in the 2-mile as Aileen Fitzgerald took sixth (13:59.73), and Emma Savoy was seventh (14:02.45).

Kamryn Reilly earned a win and finished in the top 10 in two other events. She won the long jump (15-6½), placed third in the high jump (4-8) and seventh in the 55 meters (8.12). Anna Wetherbee was fifth in the 600 (1:54.55), and Marie Nottleson was seventh in the 55 hurdles (10.88).

• On the boys’ side of the early session, Aaron Hendry won the 600 in 1:32.21 for Mahar and the Senators split a dual meet with a 70-25 win over Ludlow and a 72-23 loss to West Springfield.

Hendry also took sixth in the 55 meter hurdles (8.92) for the Senators. Ash Shaw also had a nice meet for the Senators with a third-place finish in the high jump (5-6), and a sixth-place time of (39.14) in the 300. Uziel Valentin finished fifth in the long jump (18-8) for Mahar, Sebastian Shaw took seventh in the 2-mile (11:23.02), and John Nye was eighth in the shot put (34-1¼).

 Seth Hoynoski led Mohawk on Friday with a pair of top 4 finishes but the Warriors fell to West Springfield, 78-17.

Hoynoski was third in the mile (5:04.66) and fourth in the 2-mile (10:58.88). Zach Coburn also had a big day, placing third in the 1,000 (2:53) and fifth in the mile (5:08.50). Zachary Goodell was sixth in the shot put (35-½), and Ben White took 10th in the 300 (39.74). 

• In the girls’ portion of the evening meet, Lily Van Baaren finished eighth in the mile (6:28.36) and 10th in the high jump (3-10) as Pioneer Valley Regional School topped High School of Commerce, 55-30.

The Panthers also had two athletes take top 10s in the 600 as Sydney Unaitis finished eighth (2:05.22), and Ella Potee came in 10th (2:06.42).

Athol High School also competed in the evening portion and suffered a 63-27 loss to Pope Francis High School.

Grace Dufour finished seventh in the mile (6:28.27) for Athol, and Shelby Mailloux was eighth in the 1,000 meter (3:40.61).

• On the boys’ side of the evening session, Mason Barrieau won the 600 in 1:29.15 and had two other top 10 finishes to help Athol to a 48-39 win over Pope Francis.

Barrieau also finished second in the 55 hurdles (9.05) and ninth in the long jump (17-11¼). Kris Selanis also won the shot put for Athol with a (41-1½). Zack Bergquist had a nice day for the Red Raiders with three top 10 finishes. He took fifth in the 1,000 (3:15.40), sixth in the mile (5:24.92), and 10th in the 55 hurdles (10.80). Dennis St. Jean was second in the 1,000 in 3:00.93, and Chase Michaud was fourth in the 600 (1:37.63). Gabe Roberts tied for seventh in the high jump at 4-10, and Hudson Carlson took ninth in the mile (5:52.83).

Scott McDonough led Pioneer Valley Regional School as he won the long jump (19-10¾) and was sixth in the 55 dash (7.20) and the Panthers defeated Commerce, 47-43.

Andrew Pratt had a pair of top 10s with a fifth in the high jump (5-0), and seventh in the shot put (36-2½), while Jacob Kelton also appeared twice in the top 10 with a seventh in the high jump (4-10) and an eighth in the 300 (41.80). Gavin Curtis took seventh in the 600 (1:39.81), Adrian Wilson was eighth in the shot put (36-2¼), Brian Bodenstein was 10th in the mile (5:58.35) and Manny Little was 10th in the 2-mile (13:22.02).
