For those who live in Greenfield and Franklin county, I woke up Dec. 7 to hear of the sad news that someone smashed our baby Jesus and damaged the donkey in our town common. It has been there for as long as I can remember. As a child, I remember looking at it with my parents.

Sadly, some friends and I were discussing the other night how the creche has gone three days without vandalism. That’s all it took. Why? Why? I don’t understand the hatred in this world. There is no reason for this horrible act. I hope and pray they find out who did this despicable act and punish them. If you don’t like looking at it, then don’t. Or you don’t believe in what it stands for, don’t ruin the meaning and the peacefulness of the season for those that do. What do you think Christmas is about? Someone who just picked a day out of a hat and decided to give out presents? No. Its about the birth of Jesus. Not Santa or elves on shelves. I am proud to say I am a Catholic. I believe in the church, in the nativity and our Savior, Jesus. I say Merry Christmas!
