ACUSHNET — Officials say carbon monoxide poisoning is suspected in the deaths of a father and son inside a home in Acushnet.
The Bristol District Attorney’s office has identified the victims as 41-year-old Joseph Lopes and 9-year-old Collin Lopes.
Police went to the home on Buttonwood Lane Wednesday morning after receiving a call from Collin’s mother, who had been unable to make contact with her son or Joseph Lopes, her ex-husband. Police also learned that Collin had not arrived at school in the morning.
First responders entering the home detected high levels of carbon monoxide. The two victims were found dead inside the home. Two dogs were also found, one of which had died.
The incident is under investigation.
