Loomis-Chaffee School scored four of the final five goals of the game on Wednesday to defeat Northfield Mount Hermon School, 6-3, in the girls’ prep hockey season opener for NMH in Gill.
Sophie McLaughlin scored early in the first period to stake the Hoggers to an early lead, but Loomis came back with two straight goals, including the go-ahead goal late in the second period for a 2-1 lead. Ellie Fellows responsed with a power play goal with three minutes left in the period to tie the game for NMH, but Loomis scored twice in the final three minutes to take a 4-2 lead into the third. Loomis added two more goals in the third, before Steph Voge added the final NMH goal.
Deerfield Rec registrations
The Deerfield Recreational Basketball program will be holding registrations for its various teams on Tuesday from 5-6 p.m. at the Deerfield Recreation Office.
Registrations for the grades 7-12 teams will take place and cost is $50, while the grades 1 & 2 team costs $30.
The league is for residents of Deerfield, Conway, Sunderland and Whately.

Learn to Skate
The Franklin County Hockey Association’s “Learn to Skate” program meets Saturday mornings at 9 a.m. at Collins-Moylan Arena in Greenfield.
Cost is $5 per week and includes skates and helmets. For more information go to www.fcha.org.
