Dante Ruggiano scored with 10 seconds to play on a shot from 20 yards out to lift FC Frontier Eagles to a 2-1 win over West Springfield in the Roots Soccer League Under-12 Division I Championship Sunday morning in Southwick.
Cam Zononi opened up the scoring earlier in the game when he took a pass from Trey Fraser, who had dribbled through a pair of defenders to set up the goal.
Brady Burch made five saves to earn the win.
• In Saturday semifinal action, Sam Henry and Fraser each scored to help FC Frontier to a 2-1 win over Agawam.
Ruggiano assisted on the Henry goal, while Brady Finch assisted on the Fraser tally. Brady Burch made seven saves in the Frontier net.
Valley leads Owls
Jill Valley scored 30 points for the second consecutive game and helped the Westfield State University women’s basketball team to a 76-74 win over Brandeis College Saturday in Waltham.
The senior guard from Orange, went 4-for-7 from beyond the arc in the win and also finished with two assists and two steals for the Owls, who improved to 2-1 on the season.
