10:29 a.m. — Caller from the top of the hill on Turners Falls Road in Greenfield, reports that the female wearing plastic bags is partially in the road there, and expressed concern she could get struck by an oncoming vehicle; we spoke with Greenfield Police.
1:16 p.m. — Larceny reported by a caller from Poplar Street where he said his cell phone was stolen last night from the footbridge there, and that he left the cell phone in a folding chair, and walked away to talk with someone; when he returned the cell phone was gone; he did say there was a group of youths in the area last night, and believes a male who he only knew by a first name stole his cell phone; he gave a description of the phone and he advised the earliest he would be able to get any more information on the phone would be tomorrow morning when the Rent-A-Center opens; he will bring that information to the police station.
2:25 p.m. — Vandalism reported from Second Street where the caller reports her vehicle was keyed sometime between 7:30 and 8 this morning, and noon today; the vehicle was parked in the parking lot between Second and Third streets behind the Cutlery Block; officer was advised.
2:55 p.m. — Report of a loud band playing on the sidewalk outside of the art gallery on Bridge Street, located under the reporting person’s apartment building; unknown if the Selectboard issued a permit for this event; the music was clearly audible on the 911 line; officer sent and reported the band has stopped playing and they were advised of the complaint; officer cleared.
4:28 p.m. — Caller from Avenue A reports she is the manager of the Stuff store location, and witnessed three grown men, possibly in their 30s, skateboarding on the brand new benches in front of the store; when she approached them asking them to stop, they asked when would the store be closing, and then stated they would come back and continue after the store closed; the reporting person says the men are no longer in the area now, and just requests that extra patrols be in the area after 5 p.m. when the business closes, because of the heavy damage the skateboards will cause. Officers were advised.
11:37 a.m. — Caller from area of Central Street in an apartment building there, reports that when she arrived home at 6 a.m. she noticed her door was unlocked, but she believed that she may have just forgotten to lock it; the reporting person then, just now, reports that she just woke up from her nap and her medication had been taken, and items gone through. She gave police a list of items that were stolen, and said she was gone from 9:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m.
6:44 a.m. — Disturbance reported on School Street where the reporting person states the neighbor in the downstairs apartment is playing loud music and was yelling profanities; the reporting person states this happens every morning between 6 and 8; the known subject was found screaming an obscenity over and over again, and is now blaring the music and won’t stop. Officers could hear the subject banging around in his apartment, but he refused to open the door. Situation investigated.
7:54 a.m. — Report from Indoor Action Sport Center on Bernardston Road of a tree down on wires near this location; Fire Department to handle; Eversource was contacted and advised.
8:37 a.m. — Accident on the Interstate 91 rotary but with no injuries reported. Situation investigated and a citation was issued.
9:18 a.m. — Unwanted person reported at The Franklin Recovery Center/Behavioral Health at the former Lunt Silversmith’s; officer sent and found the same person voluntarily left the scene.
9:29 a.m. — Accident with injuries at Smith and Federal streets; a bicyclist was transported by Medcare to Baystate Franklin Medical Center, and an officer brought the damaged bicycle back to the ARC.
12:09 p.m. — Welfare check requested on Harrison Avenue where the caller reports a female is going door to door asking for money for a prescription, and the caller is concerned for her welfare; situation investigated.
3:15 p.m. — Caller from Tire Warehouse on Federal Street states he had a customer take off without paying after offering an employee a crossbow; he would like to know his options; the crime was found to have taken place at “Crumpin Fox,” in Bernardston; the reporting person was given the contact information for the proper agency.
3:23 p.m. — Report of a wire down on Prospect Avenue; officer found it to be a TV line, and the Fire Department is moving it out of the way.
9:05 p.m. — Unwanted person reported at Green Field’s Market; officers sent, and found the person to be gone on arrival.
10:20 p.m. — Disturbance reported on School Street where the caller says she can hear fighting in the apartment above her, and waking her son. Officer sent, and services rendered.
10:35 p.m. — Hazard reported on Parkway where the reporting person says there is a small tree or large branch which has come down, blocking one side of the road; officer advised to page DPW for removal of a tree top that has fallen; spoke to an DPW official and he will have a crew en route.
10:58 p.m. — Disturbance reported on Elm Terrace where the reporting person says there is yelling and screaming coming from an apartment on the first floor; a male is inside the apartment and the female is in the hallway; no known weapons and no kids in the apartment; officers sent, and calmed the situation.
11:39 p.m. — Caller from Elm Terrace reports heavy pounding on the ceiling coming from the second floor right apartment; and the reporting person states this started as soon as officers left from the prior call; officers sent, and then an officer took one 50-year-old man to the station and placed him in protective custody.
2:11 a.m. — Walk-in reported he hit an owl on Route 63 while coming into Montague, and put the animal in his car, and he then tried to revive the owl, but with no luck. An officer then transported one male to Park Street; nothing further listed in the log.
8:36 a.m. — Caller from Bernardo Drive reports hearing strange sounds near her home, and said it sounds like fireworks; officer said he believes the sound to be someone qualifying from a nearby gun range.
10:52 a.m. — Caller from Hunting Hills on Federal Street reports that somebody stole a plant from her business; she has the incident on video, and would like an officer to view it; report taken.
10:57 a.m. — Caller from area of the Connecticut River Internists on Burnham Street was at a doctor’s appointment, and while inside, somebody broke into his locked vehicle, stole his dog, and then re-locked the car; officer investigating reports he didn’t see any type of forced entry into the vehicles; the reporting person was advised of options.
12:37 p.m. — Officer on Third Street observed a male with an open container of alcohol; the officer dumped it out.
10:33 a.m. — Subject from area of Bank of America on Federal Street reports that 15 people will be marching from the bank down Federal Street to TD Bank on Main Street to show solidarity for Native Americans at the pipeline project; they were advised they need no permit to simply walk somewhere, but they were cautioned not to block the sidewalk or bother other people; Bank of America reports this happened yesterday in Worcester, where protesters chained themselves to bank doors and were later arrested.
10:39 a.m. — Indecent exposure reported on Wells Street where the caller says he witnessed an involved female urinating in the ally way behind the old Home Furnishing Co.; officer to call back, and placed the call, but no answer; the reporting person had reported this happened an hour ago.
11:51 a.m. — Caller reported he is getting repeated calls from people claiming they are from the government and demanding money from him. The reporting person got calls from a person with a foreign accent claiming to be with the government; the caller was advised of options.
4:59 p.m. — A 911 caller states she has just taken money from the ATM at the Greenfield Cooperative Bank on Avenue, and then started to walk up Avenue A, where a tall white male, with a shaved head and a gray hoodie came up to her and snatched all the money from her hands and ran; officers checking the area for the male; the reporting person called back several times, very upset and distraught, but then she called later to retell the story and this time she was clear about the events that took place; she stated that she had taken the money out of the ATM and that the suspect was standing nearby; she stated she had owed the man $20; when she pulled out a “wad” of cash to pay him, he reached over and snatched all of the money from her hand, and then ran off; she tried chasing him, but he was too fast; officers were able to get a full description, and the 40-year-old male is being summoned for unarmed robbery.
7:21 p.m. — Officer on detail at the Turners Falls High School requests an officer come up to the high school to monitor the crowd outside; there are a few people getting loud; the officer arrived and then took a set of keys from the operator attached to this call, and the keys were placed in the dispatch office with a property tag.
8:33 p.m. — Caller from South Ferry Road reports that there are bears in the front yard of their homes; officer responded and Environmental Police Officer was contacted, but they have no one in the area to respond; the male resident chased them off his property.
