Mason Barrieau scored on a 50-yard run in the fourth quarter and Athol High School came from behind to defeat Pittsfield High School, 18-13, in an independent football game Friday night in Pittsfield.

Pittsfield led 7-0 at halftime but Athol got on the board early in the third quarter when Robbie Nelson scored on a 4-yard run that brought Athol to within one point at 7-6. Pittsfield scored on the ensuing drive for a 13-6 lead, but Nelson answered right back with a 6-yard touchdown run. The conversion attempt failed and Athol still trailed by one, 13-12.

In the fourth, Barrieau took a handoff at midfield and swept to his left where he got some running room. He hurdled a defender on his way to the end zone that gave Athol the lead for the first time all day and the Red Raiders did not relinquish it.

Athol (7-3)  will host Mahar Regional School in the annual Turkey Day rivalry on Thanksgiving morning at 10.
