Vesit Keo hit Jalen Sanders with a touchdown pass in overtime as fifth-seeded Platform Titans topped Rocketfusion.com, 18-12, in quarterfinal play of the Greenfield Men’s Touch Football League playoff action Sunday in Greenfield.
Rocketfusion scored a pair of TDs in the final 2 minutes, 45 seconds of the game to tie the score but was unsuccessful on the extra point that would have won it. Rocketfusion then turned the ball over on downs in OT, giving the Titans the opportunity to win the game. On third down, Keo hit Sanders.
Billy Cruz scored on a pass from Keo early, and Sanders took a punt to the house to put the Titans up 12-0, but Rocketfusion roared back late in the game, as Nick Aldrich hit Tyson Dowdy with a touchdown pass, then ran in the game-tying score from 7 yards out.
The Titans will take on top-seeded Between the Uprights (bye) Sunday morning at 10:30 in the semifinals.
• Elsewhere, Jesse Phelps threw TD passes to Parker Hickey, Chuck St. Hilaire and Tyler Leroux and second-seeded Sirum’s Auto Body outlasted seventh-seeded Johnson Controls, 20-6.
St. Hilaire also tacked on an extra point in the win.
The game was close early, as Johnson’s James Miller hit Sam Parker with a TD strike late in the first quarter that made the score 7-6 at the time. Sirum’s scored the final 13 points.
• In other quarterfinal action, Bryan Adamski hooked up with Jon Hall for a pair of TD passes and third-seeded Travel Kuz topped sixth-seeded Shelburne Falls Bowling Alley, 12-0.
Pat Boyle, Chad Flasinski and Jeremy Benz played well defensively in the loss, while Ryan Keilty and Chris Hart had strong offensive games.
Sirum’s and Travel Kuz will open the semis Sunday at 9:15 a.m.
KMP Pro-Member
Nikki Welsh, Irene Woods and Wendy Blanchard had 46 points to win first place in the Women’s Flight of the KMP Pro-Member Golf Tournament over the weekend at the Country Club of Greenfield.
Margo Worden, Jane Plumley and Sue McDonald came in second at 36.
Scott Lyman, Rich Peel and Forbes Byron won the Men’s Flight at 34, while Jim Lunt, Joe Poirier and Bob Diamond were second at 31. Kevin O’Connell, Matt Pitoniak and John Stacy tied Tom Rogers, Terry Sinclair and Rocky Barbuto for third at 28.

Tech-Pioneer Powderpuff
The eighth annual Franklin County Technical School vs. Pioneer Valley Regional School Powderpuff game will take place Nov. 19 at 11 a.m. at Pioneer.
Entry to the game is one non-perishable food item or a cash entry of $3 for students and $5 for adults. All proceeds will benefit the local teen service agency, Dial Self.

Dean College camp
Dean College in Franklin is hosting a four-week baseball camp starting Jan. 22.
The program is open to players in grades 1 through 12 and features sessions in advanced hitting, pitching, catching, fielding and baserunning. Space is limited to seven players per coach.

Stonehill tourney bound
The sixth-ranked Stonehill College field hockey team earned its eighth trip to the NCAA Division II Field Hockey Tournament on Monday afternoon.
The Skyhawks, with Greenfield native Shea Healy on the roster, earned the No. 3 seed in the East Region and will travel to Manchester, N.H., Saturday at 1 to take on third-ranked Saint Anselm College.
Local at Keene State
Gwen Thayer stopped the only shot she faced on Saturday to lead Keene State College to a 5-0 win over Southern Maine in the Little East Conference Field Hockey Championship game in Keene, N.H.
Thayer, the former Frontier Regional School goalie, is joined on the Owls by former Greenfield High School player Kelsey Roberts, and with the win, the Owls (20-3) clinched their fourth consecutive Little East Crown and a berth in the NCAA Division III Field Hockey Tournament.
Keene State will host SUNY Geneseo Wednesday at 2 in the first round. The Owls have won 14 straight games.
Thayer, a sophomore, has started all 23 games for the Owls this season, and has 88 saves on the season, while allowing 24 goals. Roberts, a freshman, has appeared in 13 games and does not have a point.
For the third straight year, the Keene State College field hockey team will open the NCAA tournament at home. The Owls will host SUNY Geneseo on November 9 at Owl Athletic Complex at 2 p.m.
LaBombard leads Wave
Due to a reporting error, the Greenfield High School boys’ cross country team was led by Tyssen LaBombard at Saturday’s PVIAC Championships at Stanley Park in Westfield.
LaBombard came in 58th overall with a time of 18 minutes, 14 seconds.
Supple catch sparks O’s
Due to a reporting error, Cameron Supple caught a 57-yard pass to set up Belchertown High School’s winning touchdown on Friday night.
The catch was initially credited to Zach Mercier.
Dillon Bantams win
Hunter Haughey and Kyle Barnes each had hat tricks Sunday as Franklin County Hockey Association Dillon Chevrolet Warriors cruised past Holy Name Black, 11-4, in a GSL Bantam Division game in Greenfield.
Steven Parkinson and Jacob Bryant each scored twice, and Sam Battisti notched a goal. Barnes and Battisti each finished with a pair of helpers, while Haughey, Bryant and Jake Croteau chipped in one helper apiece.
Jordyn LaVallee made 17 saves to pick up the win, and Derek Lenois played well.
Gilmore & Farrell split
Jake Petrin had two goals and one assist on Sunday but FCHA Gilmore & Farrell Insurance Green suffered a 4-3 loss to Keene Cobras in a Greater Springfield League Squirt Division game Sunday at Collins-Moylan Arena in Greenfield.
Jake Knight and Brady Booska each added goals in the loss, and Jake Jurek had a pair of assists. Jack Petrin made 10 saves.
• On Saturday, Jake Petrin scored five times and Booska potted a pair to lead Gilmore & Farrell to a 7-6 win over Nonotuck at Lossone Rink in Easthampton.
Knight and Jurek each had one assist in the win, and Jack Petrin made seven saves. Will Petrin and Talon Wissman each played well defensively.

DRIVE Hoops Thanksgiving
The 10th annual DRIVE Hoops Thanksgiving Skills Clinic will take place on Nov. 19 at Stoneleigh-Burnham School in Greenfield.
Boys and girls in grades 1 through 4 will go from 10 a.m. until noon, while boys and girls in grades 5 through 8 will go from 12:30-2:30 p.m. Cost is $35 if preregistered, or $40 on the day of the clinic.

Orange Rec girls program
The Orange Recreation Association is looking for girls in grades 4 through 7 who would like to learn or improve basketball skills. The program is open to girls from any area town, and has one practice and one game per week at 4 p.m. at Fisher Hill School Gymnasium in Orange, and a game on Saturday mornings from 8-10 a.m.
The program begins on Tuesday and runs through Jan. 22, with a championship game and awards/potluck supper to celebrate the end of the season. Montague Youth clinic
The Montague Parks & Recreation Department is holding Youth Basketball Clinics on Nov. 15 (girls) and Nov. 17 (boys) at the Sheffield Elementary School gymnasium.
The clinics are open to girls and boys in grades 3 through 6, and run from 5:30-7:30 p.m. Fee is $20 for Montague residents, and $25 for non-residents. Non-residents will be placed on a waiting list and notified on Thursday if a vacancy exists. These clinics are not try-outs for the Youth Basketball Program, nor do they guarantee placement on the teams.
