1:10 p.m. — Reporting person on South Main Street called the station to report a very intoxicated man just left the bar after causing a scene because he wouldn’t be served, and is now walking toward the town square; the man was located and was unable to walk; after the officer tried to call a family member to come pick him up, the male became very belligerent, yelling and swearing at the officer; he was then arrested for disturbing the peace, and being a disorderly person; arrested was Frederick York, 64, of East River Street Orange, charged on those two counts.
7:16 p.m. — Control advised a reporting person would like an officer about two people that came to her residence to do yard work on Walnut Hill Road; she said they were paid prior to finishing the work, and haven’t returned; options were discussed with the reporting person, but she just wanted the incident on record.
9:40 p.m. — Control advised the Orange Fire Department is responding to East Road address for a chimney fire; officer’s assistance provided.
12:20 p.m. — Shoplifting, reported at Food City on Avenue A, and just happened; officer investigating.
11:45 a.m. — Breaking and entering, reported to Control from Stone Valley Road from where a resident came home, and believes someone may have entered the home; officers found the residence was found secure and searched, nothing missing; the dog may have been responsible.
1:34 p.m. — Caller reports the father of her 8-year-old child has threatened to take the child and fly off somewhere; the father doesn’t have any right to do this; the caller has notified the school authorities not to release the child; the school resource officer has also been notified.
7:15 p.m. — Control advised the Fire Department is responding to the town hall for an individual stuck in an elevator; assistance provided.
7:21 a.m. — Caller reports an accident in the church parking lot on Beacon Street, but no injury reported; officer found it to be minor damage. Information exchanged.
3:47 p.m. — Accident reported on Federal Street near Goly’s Garage; but caller says there are no injuries; fire command requests wiring inspector as a wall is down; investigation led to arrest of David Edward LaValley, 39, of Turners Falls Road, Greenfield, charged with operating under the influence of liquor, third offense, and operating recklessly so as to endanger.
4:06 p.m. — Loss prevention at Big Y reports a past theft of groceries, and involves Vermont car, and plates, given to police; police identified the subject for Big Y Loss Prevention, and they will file the charges.
4:27 p.m. — Shelburne Control reports an accident on Interstate 91 northbound just south of Exit 26; officer found they are on the northbound in Deerfield; all patients are out of the vehicle.
5 p.m. — Accident on Colrain Road, but no injuries reported. Officer canceled Medcare en route; accident was a car versus a pole, not broken but moved about six inches, and slightly leaning; Eversource notified; report taken.
5:12 p.m. — Accident reported at Newton Street and Mohawk Trail; no injuries; information exchanged.
5:18 p.m. — Hazard reported at Davis and Pierce streets where a tree is down in the roadway and on wires; officer on scene and Comcast and Verizon were notified that the tree is almost all the way down on the lines; Fire Department taped off the tree.
5:38 p.m. — Found slick conditions on Mountain Road; made contact with DPW via radio, and advised them this is a priority.
5:38 p.m. — At same time as above, multiple cars were off the roadway west of the Big Y plaza on the Mohawk Trail; while officers were assisting motorists, a tree fell across the entire westbound lane of travel; officers flagged down the tree crew, and they removed the tree.
5:41 p.m. — Caller from area of the Garden Theater on Main Street reports an accident, but no injuries reported.
5:43 p.m. — Report of a tree on wires on Chapman Street; officer found a limb had broken, but not on wires, and it was cleared, and officer is returning.
5:46 p.m. — Report of a vehicle stuck on Wisdom Way; nothing further listed on the log.
6 p.m. — Report of a tree down on wires on Madison Circle; Fire Department committed; Eversource is en route, and then on scene; DPW putting up road closures.
6:02 p.m. — Report from Newton Street that vehicles are stuck in the roadway, causing a hazard. Services rendered.
6:04 p.m. — Tree across the road on Barton Road.
6:07 p.m. — Car parked in the intersection of Route 2 bypass and Adams Road; services rendered.
6:09 p.m. — Wire reported down on Sanderson Street near the middle school, Eversource en route; fire personnel coming back for recall; ETA 40 minutes for Eversource. Central Maintenance notified to let them know the school is on a generator there; Eversource on scene; road was then opened and the branch is in the area, but not impeding traffic; DPW was advised.
6:27 p.m. — Report of a tree across Petty Plain Road; near curve and up the hill described.
6:33 p.m. — Wire reported down on Country Club Road. Found to be tree on fire on the wires; Fire Department on the scene and fire is burning on the pole; ETA one hour for Eversource; DPW on scene attempting to close the road from Verde to Broadside. Eversource supervisor on scene.
6:44 p.m. — Hazardous condition reported at Silver and Davis streets; services rendered.
6:48 p.m. — Tree reported across Bungalow Avenue, but no wires involved.
7:10 p.m. — Disabled motor vehicle on South Shelburne Road where the vehicle is parked on the side of the road; if the DPW calls to have it towed, call her; she just can’t get up the road at this time.
7:17 p.m. — Wire down on Smith Street; Eversource en route for tree on wires, and connecting to a house; ETA 10 minutes for Eversource, then on scene.
7:31 p.m. — Wire down on Water Street; tree on wire; DPW and Eversource en roue; a second tree fell behind Engine 2, and now they are blocked in; DPW on scene and Eversource also there.
7:34 p.m. —Tree in the road at Bernardston Road and Severance Street; no wires involved; DPW advised.
7:34 p.m. — Hazard reported on Riddell Street; tree on wires, and Verizon was advised there is a branch on their line.
7:36 p.m. — Car spun out on the Mohawk Trail and is blocking one lane. Situation investigated.
7:52 p.m. — Tree down at Petty Plain Road and Meridian Street; officer was able to pick the tree up, and put it down out of the roadway.
8:07 p.m. — Tree across Wildwood Avenue, services rendered.
8:07 p.m. — Tree across Whittam Road; Engine 3 assisting and in service.
8:10 p.m. – Tree on wires on Laurel Street; Engine 1 committed, tree down on secondary lines, blocking part of the roadway; wire is inert; Eversource en route; still awaiting Eversource; fire command reports power is cut off, wires removed from the house, and road is reopened at this time.
8:13 p.m. — Tree branches at Elm and Evens streets; area cleared.
8:27 p.m. — Wire down on Bernardston Road, with tree across power lines and partially blocking the road, removed low hanging branch from Comcast lines
8:50 p.m. — Wire down on Cleveland Street with tree partially taking the power lines down, and some are on the home. Eversoure to respond, tree on live wires, and only five feet above the ground; Eversource ETA of 15 minutes; Eversource crew on scene.
8:52 p.m. — Tree hanging over the roadway near Lefty’s Brewing Company on Wells Street; no hazard, Engine 3 cleared.
9:13 p.m. — Wire down on Walnut Street, across part of the roadway and across wires; DPW to respond to clear the roadway of tree making it impassible; Verizon contacted as well.
9:17 p.m. — Tree across Haywood Street, DPW tree crew on scene.
9:32 p.m. — Tree in roadway at Fairview and Newton streets; tree removed.
9:39 p.m. — Accident at CVS lot on Federal Street where a Vermont truck backed out of a parking space colliding with a Honda Accord, which was preparing to exit the parking lot; damage to the Honda left rear driver’s side; information exchanged.
9:50 p.m. — Tree reported across the road on Pond Street; tree was moved out of the road.
10:19 p.m.— Wire down on Congress Street where there is a tree on the wires, low hanging; for pole to house, and it’s secondary line; no need for Fire Department to respond; Eversource ETA is 45 minutes.
10:22 p.m. — Tree down on Log Plain Road at Bernardston Road and blocking the road. Officer found it to be a large tree in middle of the roadway, and he stood by for traffic; officer cleared on DPW arrival and they removed the tree.
10:26 p.m. — Wire down on Sanderson Street; Eversource was advised of small amount of damage to the pole there; DPW advised of the tree, and they were called in.
10:27 p.m. — Tree down on Colrain Road, blocking the roadway, Eversource to respond, and DPW to block off the road; Eversource ETA 20 minutes.
10:30 p.m. — Tree hanging on wires at Pierce and Davis streets.
11 p.m. — Tree reported down in the northbound lane on Bernardston Road at Lover’s Lane, but no trees were located down in that area.
11:34 p.m. — Tree on wires at Stone Farm Lane; 25 minutes ETA for Eversource; fire command requests DPW tree crew to head towards their way at this time; tree blocking the road, and on top of power lines, road impassable to vehicles; Fire Department then reports Eversource on the scene.
11:46 p.m. — Tree down across both lanes of Munson and Fairview streets; tree limb on wires and wire is not in road or on ground; officers were able to pull out the limbs falling, and trees hanging over the roadway; officers pulled out the fall area to end of road, and road was closed; DPW placed road closed signs; hazards have been cleared and the road is open.
11:56 p.m. — Tree reported down partially blocking Green river Road, no wires involved; officer was able to removes down branches, but very low hanging branches are left, blocking one lane of travel on that road; DPW was notified.
2:40 a.m. — Control reports a car versus a deer on West Orange Road; the vehicle was towed from the scene and the report was taken, but no mention on the log about the deer.
8:57 a.m. — Report from East River Street of vandalism to the bandstand there; report filed.
10:18 a.m. — A caller reported an overdose on Abbott Street. Members of the Fire Department, Police Department and Medcare were dispatched. Medcare administered Narcan and transported the subject to the hospital.
4:24 p.m. — An accident without injuries occurred at Rite Aid, located at 107 Main St., between a white 2004 Buick LeSabre and a gray 1997 Toyota Camry. The incident resulted in very minor damage, though a verbal altercation began when the male driver of the white sedan got out of his vehicle and tried to leave the scene.
7:09 p.m. — A caller on Leyden Road reported someone just took her Hillary Clinton sign from her yard, though she couldn’t describe the vehicle.
1:12 a.m. — Unwanted person at Swift Cleaners and laundry on Main Street. Officer sent and found the maintenance man had been allowing a male to keep warm due to being homeless, but was told to leave earlier because he smoked inside; the male returned and now the maintenance man wants the involved to leave and not return due to loitering; the male was identified and moved along.
2:15 a.m. — Report from Mountain Road and Montague City Road reports there are multiple trees hanging, one is partially over the road; the other is hanging across the whole length of the road, low enough for it to scrape her car as she drove underneath it; hazard was removed.
6:29 a.m. — Caller reports a tree possibly leaning on a wire and another tree leaning toward his house; officer checked and found a large tree limb on the side of the road, but it was not a hazard.
6:52 a.m. — Caller reports a tree is down across the road blocking most of the roadway.
814 a.m. — Report of hazard with wires down in the road at Bernardston Road and Lovers Lane; found to be phone wires.
8:23 a.m. — Disturbance at ServiceNet residence facility on Maple Street where the reporting person states a female was outside her window telling her she needs to give her money so people won’t shoot her; the person outside is telling the female inside that she needs money because she is being threatened; the reporting person advised the female outside is trying to take advantage of the reporting person, to get her to buy drugs, and not to lend any money; officer to follow up with staff when they open at 9 a.m.
10:06 a.m. — A caller reported that a parking ticket machine in the parking lot near Greenfield Fire Department, located at 412 Main St., was not working. Police advised parking enforcement and the Department of Public Works.
10:48 a.m. — An accident without injuries occurred at D’Angelo Grilled Sandwiches, located at 68 Mohawk Trail, between a gray 2005 Volkswagen Jetta and a brown 2012 Chevrolet Equinox.
11:42 a.m. — Caller from Speedway gas station on Federal Street where the caller says an older male with a bicycle, mumbling to himself and walking up to vehicles and mumbling to people as they enter or exit the store; officer en route to the station with one person in custody; arrested was Daniel R. Ryznic, 66, of Haydenville, on a warrant.
11:59 a.m. — Reporting person says there is a newer looking bike that appears to have been dumped on the overpass at Colrain Road; then a walk-in reported a red Giant Mountain Bike stolen from the front porch sometime overnight; officer located the bike, and same was found in good condition, and returned to the owner.
12:04 p.m. — Report that the stop sign at Pleasant and Chapman Street has been taken down; officer found a school sign was run over, but the stop sign is fine; there are tire tracks up and over the sign and back out onto the street; officers checked on Chapman Street and side streets for the vehicle with damage, but unable to locate it, the reporting person wouldn’t give information to dispatch.
12:28 p.m. — Suspicious activity reported on Highland Avenue where the caller says a suspicious vehicle, a green Hyundai Sonata, is parked near her home and has a male inside of it; her husband spoke to the man who indicated he was doing paper work; the caller stated it was suspicious for a vehicle to be pulled over in her neighborhood; officer checked Highland Park, Peabody Lane, and Highland Avenue; spoke with some people walking dogs in the Highland Pond area and they didn’t see any vehicle matching the description, and thus unable to locate.
1:14 p.m. — Suspicious activity at Cumberland Farms on Federal Street where the caller says a white male, in his 30s, heavy set, parked a blue Hyundai Accent, and walked over to another parked vehicle where he put his hand inside the car window, and exchanged something with the driver before walking into the store; officers sent, both vehicles were gone on arrival.
1:22 p.m. — Suspicious activity reports at Lunt Fields off Norwood Street where an officer is checking on a female down on the ground; the female states she was just trying to calm down because she’s having a bad day; she was asked if she needed to speak with Crisis, and or rehab, but she refused both; the female was able to care for herself at this point, and she was moved along.
6:28 p.m. — Breaking and entering reported from Bouker Street where the caller says his son’s black Ford Escape was just broken into, with items missing; caller’s wife noticed a person walking up the street, but unknown description and officers were unable to locate anyone.
8:04 p.m. — Disturbance at Big Y Foods entrance to parking lot where the reporting person says four or five males appear to be fighting at a camper near the entrance off the Mohawk Trail; caller says all were white, and one was down on the ground and being assaulted; also maybe a female is involved wearing a gray hooded shirt. A Northfield EMS unit was on the scene as officers arrived; found to be simple assault and battery, but they declined help, and were advised of options.
8:34 p.m. — Hazardous condition reported from the Pumping Station Bridge on Eunice Williams Drive, where the caller reported pumpkins with candles are on the bridge and is concerned as it is a wooden bridge; officers were notified, and services rendered.
9:40p.m. — Caller from Magpie Restaurant on Bank Row where the reporting person says his employee had his jacket, wallet and keys stolen during the evening; advised the caller to have the employee cancel any credit or debit cards; officer is clear, and then entered the Garden Cinemas to check footage; a red and gray Northface jacket was taken out of a back entrance; keys and wallet were in the jacket, and will follow up with the movie theater about camera footage tomorrow.
8:47 a.m. — Unwanted person at the Cumberland Farms location on Main Street complained of a person camping out back; officer found the person camped out there one night, and was all packed up and leaving on arrival.
