DEERFIELD — A historic house in Old Deerfield, worth $1.8 million and built in 1885, has been bought by Deerfield Academy.
According to a document filed with the Franklin County Registry of Deeds, the house at 30 Old Main St., most recently owned by husband and wife Richard W. Wilby Jr. and Sheila A. Lagrenade, was sold for $1,882,500 to the Trustees of Deerfield Academy earlier this month. Final documents for the sale were notarized last week.
David Thiel, spokesman for Deerfield Academy confirmed Monday that the school had purchased the property.
The sale includes 1.3 acres of “land with buildings and improvements,” which is “60,000 square feet.”
Based on the town’s file for the property, the house has six bedrooms, four bathrooms and one half-bath. There’s also a smaller building on the lot, near the house.
The property is assessed by the town at $749,100. The house is valued at $655,400, the smaller building about $100,000
