Lynne LeVangie

Dennisport, MA – Lynne Frances (Georges) LeVangie passed away at home on Oct 26th after a valiant battle against cancer. Lynne was born in Brockton, MA and was the third daughter of the late Vincent and Ruth (Danforth) Georges.

Lynne attended Whitman-Hanson High School. After a long and successful career as a hairdresser/shop owner in Bernardston,MA she returned to college at age 40 at Mount Holyoke College as a Frances Perkins Scholar. Being selected to a program that honors academic and personal excellence was a tremendous source of pride. Lynne completed her bachelor’s degree at Mount Holyoke with honors. She went on to become a High School English teacher working with students at Tantasqua H.S, Maynard H.S, Harwich H.S. and finally Monomoy Regional H.S. before retiring in 2016. Lynne was a voracious reader who couldn’t wait to share books with her friends. Some of her fondest memories were made while traveling the world, especially to places like Mexico, Italy, Ireland, and Scotland where she formed deep, life-long friendships. No one loved a great pair of shoes or a fabulous purse more. You’d likely hear Luther Vandross or Luciano Pavarotti coming from her stereo. Lynne never needed a special occasion to bake something delicious.

She cherished her family above all else and is survived by her loving husband of 57 years Steven and two adored sons: Steven and his wife Jenelle of Niagara Falls, NY and Jared and his wife Rachel of New Ipswich, NH. Lynne also leaves behind six beloved grandchildren Nico, Gabe, Caitlyn, Roman, Nadine and Theo.

Lynne is also survived by her five brothers and sisters. Michael Georges and his wife Kendra of Cary, NC, Susan Kent and her husband Bob of Outer Banks, N.C., Christine Holt and her late husband Bruce of New Hampton, NY, Vincent Georges and his wife Anne of Westwood, MA and Gregory Georges and his wife Nancy of Charlotte, NC. Also, many well-loved nieces, nephews, and friends too numerous to list but not forgotten.

The family will hold a Celebration of Life befitting of Lynne’s joy and love of laughter and great storytelling in 2027.

Memorial donations can be made to the Dana-Farber Cancer Institute, P.O. Box 849168, Boston, MA 02284
