DEERFIELD — Following approval by the Selectboard at a recent board meeting, town sewer costs will go up next year starting in May.
According to a document signed by all three members of the Selectboard at a recent, sewer rates will go up to $9 per one thousand gallons, starting fiscal year 2017.
Selectboard member Henry Komosa said the current rate is around $5 per one thousand gallons.
The connection and service fee will also see an increase from $50 to $200.
Finally, the cost for minimum usage will go up $60, from $40 to $100 per bill in fiscal 17.
According to the town Wastewater Treatment department’s website “billing is semi-annual in May and November and is based on water usage.”
The document says billing “will be based on the actual water usage for the winter period and an abatement for summer use above 125-percent of each individual’s previous winter use,” for residential customers only, “as long as the abatement is greater than $25.”
