The Franklin County Bulldogs garnered the top seed in the Junior Division playoffs with a 16-6 win over Quaboag in Suburban Amateur Football League action Wednesday night at Quaboag Landers Callahan Field in West Brookfield.
Noah Ausikaitis led the Bulldogs with 157 yards and a touchdown, scored on a conversion and registered 5 tackles.
Levin Prondecki added 41 rushing yards, a touchdown and a conversion, as well as making 4 tackles.
Tanner Rowe, Hugh Cyhowksi and David Damkoehler added 3 tackles each, Brayden Arsenault had 2 tackles. Gabe Tomasi, Oliver Postera, Jonathan Breor, Ian Simpson and Joseph White all chipped in one stop.
Devin Emmond played well defensively and Eli Dresser played well offensively.
Pee Wees win
Shaun Turner rushed 4 times for 80 yards and one touchdown to lead the Franklin County Bulldogs over Quaboag, 22-0, in a Suburban League action Wednesday night in West Brookfield.
Joaquin Rubio added 5 carries for 68 yards and a score, while Caleb Johnston added 22 yards and a TD on 2 carries, as well as an extra point.
Zavyey Nieves led the defense with 4 tackles, while Rubio had 3 sacks and 2 tackles. Alex Schreiber totaled 3 tackles and a sack, Zaydrien Alameda finished with 3 tackles, Caleb Johnston notched 2 tackles and 2 sacks
Tyler Yetter (fumble recovery), Brenton Russell, Logan Moore, Gavin Arsenault and Matthew Richotte all contributed a tackle.
Deerfield results
Deerfield Academy’s varsity sports teams posted a 2-1-1 record went 2-1-1 on Wednesday afternoon.
The Big Green field hockey rolled to a 5-0 home win over Worcester Academy, and the boys’ water polo squad earned an 8-7 win over Loomis Chaffee School.
DA and Vermont Academy played to a 0-0 draw in girls’ soccer, while the boys’ team dropped a 3-0 decision to Worcester.
In junior varsity action, boys’ soccer tied Eaglebrook School, 1-1, and boys’ water polo downed Loomis, 7-4.
Whitney at Westfield
Senior Alexa Whitney of Athol recorded a defensive save for Westfield State University during a 3-2 loss to Mount Holyoke College in a non-conference field hockey game Wednesday night at Alumni Field in Westfield.
Turners Suburban tryouts
Truners Falls Suburban League basketball will hold tryouts Saturday and Sunday at Turners Falls High School.
Tryouts for grades 5 and 6 will take place from noon until 2 p.m., while tryouts for grades 7 and 8 will take place from 2 to 4 p.m. both days. Prospective players are encouraged to attend both sessions.

Frontier Suburban tryouts
Tryouts for the Frontier Suburban League basketball teams will take place Saturday and Sunday at Goodnow Gymnasium at Frontier Regional School in South Deerfield.
Tryouts for the grades 5 and 6 team will run from 9 to 11 a.m., and tryouts for the 7 and 8 team will take place from 11 a.m. until 1 p.m. Players should arrive 15 minutes prior to the start of the tryout. Eligibility is limited to players residing in Conway, Deerfield, South Deerfield, Sunderland and Whately, and those who school choice to Frontier or other public or private schools within the towns listed.
To be eligible for the grades 5 and 6 team a player must be in grades fourth, fifth or sixth and cannot turn 13 prior to Sept. 1, 2016, while players eligible for the grades 7 and 8 team must be in seventh or eighth grade and cannot turn 15 prior to Sept. 1, 2016. The league runs from November until early March.

Bohonowicz Fun Run
A Fun Run/Walk in memory of Janice Bohonowicz will take place Sunday at 8:30 a.m. at the Body Shoppe in Greenfield.
There is no pre-registration and entry is free for the event, which features a 5K run and 2-mile walk. Participants are invited to contribute to the Janice Bohonowicz fund c/o Friends of Greenfield Library, which will help purchase books for the children’s wing of the library.
