The Greenfield Public Library First Wednesday Speaker Series will feature Tom Goldscheider, who will present “At Sword’s Point: A Labor History of Greenfield” on Wednesday, Nov. 2 at 6 p.m. in the LeVanway Room.

Goldscheider has researched Greenfield’s industrial past, told from the perspective of the men and women who worked in its plants making tools.

Building on archival materials at the Museum of Our Industrial Heritage and UE Local 274, along with his personal connections with retired union organizers and members, Goldscheider tells a remarkable story about the rural New England town that became the world leader in a highly sophisticated industry in which workers were paid the highest wages.

Originally from New York, Goldscheider is a farrier who developed an interest in history.

The event is free and open to the public.
