Here’s what Audubon had to report in late September:
A white pelican found at the Oxbow in Northampton was also seen in Longmeadow the same week.
A sedge wren, a dickcissel and a marsh wren were reported in the Arcadia meadows of Northampton.
A grasshopper sparrow was seen in Hadley and a clay-colored sparrow and a golden-winged warbler were found in Amherst.
Connecticut warblers were found in Hadley and Northampton.
A red-headed woodpecker was seen in Southwick
A least bittern was reported in Belchertown.
Uncommon or notable species reported included green-winged and blue-winged teal, common merganser, common loon, great egret, green heron, northern harrier, peregrine falcon, merlin, common nighthawk, whip-poor-will, yellow-bellied and olive-sided flycatchers and Philadelphia vireo.
Also reported were a Swainson’s thrush, American pipit, northern waterthrush, northern parula, Tennessee, Cape May, blackpoll, blue-winged and palm warblers, Lincoln’s sparrow and rusty blackbird.
