An open letter to the supporters of Dr. Jill Stein and Mr. Johnson:
Please do not allow the votes at your disposal to engender the perfect and become the enemy of the good.
As an idealist, I empathize with your goals. As a realist, I realize that there is one party that starts wars, with the accompanying loss of blood and treasure by the little people, and one party that is left to clean up the mess and pay the bills.
And please, Dr. S. and Mr. J., join Bernie in encouraging your supporters to see the difference.
Finally, writing is like stone work. With many words to chose from, finding the one that fits exactly right requires a large selection and a keen eye. Raising hell is for demagogues. Leave them to their doomed efforts. We can try to realize heaven instead.
If we listen to the echoes of the Logos, we can rise up the ladder of reason towards that goal.
