Pat Viencek threw three second-half touchdown passes and Between the Uprights improved to 5-0 on the season with a 19-0 win over Platform Titans in a Greenfield Men’s Touch Football League game Sunday at Green River Park in Greenfield.

Jake MacLaey caught a 22-yard touchdown pass from Viencek to open the scoring in the second half after the two teams played a scoreless first half. Then Ben Banash and Cody Underwood added touchdowns later in the game. Bill Rousell added a two-point conversion.

Josh Thibodeau, Niles LaValley, and Nick Spencer all played strong games for the Titans.

• In other action, Bryan Adamski found Kendall Schneider, Adam Bastarache and Justin Fox with touchdown passes in the first half as Travel Kuz dumped Johnson Controls, 21-0.

Abe Klein added an extra point for Travel Kuz (4-1). Chris Dodge and Ben McDonough played well defensively.

Jae Roberge, Jo Jo Ratcliffe and Ian Leonard played well for Johnson Controls.

• Finally, Nick Aldrich hit Tyson Dowdy and Chris Arsenault with touchdown passes and Rocketfusion.com knocked off Sirum Auto Body, 14-0.

Frank Stumpo and Jake Boyle led the Rocketfusion (2-2) defense. Alex Pirozhkov, Tyler Leroux and Chuck St. Hilaire played well for Sirum’s.

Colleges

Bartak scores in loss

Greenfield High School graduate Zach Bartak caught seven passes for 64 yards and a touchdown but his St. Anselm College football team suffered a 45-34 loss to Stonehill College in a Northeast 10 Conference game Saturday in Manchester, N.H.

The senior receiver has now caught 38 passes, which leads the NCAA this season. He now has 367 receiving yards on the season, and has surpassed the 1,000-yard milestone for his career, which makes him the 11th receiving in St. Anselm history to hit that mark.

Keene tops Owls

Gwendolyn Thayer made three saves Saturday and Keene State College defeated Westfield State University, 3-1, in a Little East Conference field hockey game in Westfield.

Thayer, a Frontier Regional School graduate and sophomore at Keene, improved to 6-3 on the season for Keene, which is now 7-3. She has started all 10 games and allowed 16 goals, for a 1.91 goals against average. She has stopped 44 shots on the season. Greenfield High School graduate Kelsey Roberts is a freshman defender at Keene.

Athol High School graduate Alexa Whitney made three defensive save for Westfield State, which fell to 7-2 on the year.

• On Wednesday, Jenelle Juskiewicz scored her first goal of the season and Westfield State University defeated Fitchburg State University, 4-3, in a Little East Conference field hockey game Wednesday at Elliot Field in Fitchburg.

The Mahar Regional School graduate and Owls’ senior has one goal and one assist on the season.

Softball

Valley Storm 14s win

Catie Reynolds went 2-for-2 with two runs scored and a pair of RBIs as the Valley Storm defeated Batters Box of Westfield, 18-1, in a Easthampton Fall Softball League game Sunday at Nonotuck Park in Easthampton.

Reagan Dupree went 2-for-2 with a pair of runs scored and one RBI in the win and Charlotte Doulette doubled and drove in a run. Gianna Conte struck out four in four innings to earn the win.

Golf

Three Friends Tourney

Rodney Ebbinghauson, Matt Deane, Duff Delano and Jack Letourneau finished 9-under par, 63, to win the second annual Three Friends Tournament at the Northfield Golf Course over the weekend.

The tournament raised $1,200 for the Sheriff’s Regional Dog Shelter. The tournament was in memory of Jack Ryan, Bob Hartwell and Jon Cichanowicz. Organizers wish to thank everyone who took part.

Marshall Sisson, Pat Martineau, Jason Grader and John Marchefka were second with a eight-under, 64. Jeff Holmes, Dale Parda, Sunny Lucas and Brian Choiniere finished third at 7-under. John Marchefka was closest to the pin on No. 7 at 5 feet, 3 inches. Janet Twyon won the women’s longest drive on No. 9, while Ebbinghauson won the men’s long drive.

Storm 16s win

Lexi Lacey doubled and drove in two runs to help the Valley Storm to a 12-3 win over Chicopee Stack in a Easthampton Fall Softball League 16-and-under division game Sunday in Easthampton.

Hailey Bigwood had two singles and a double in the win, and Katherine Hioe had two singles and an RBI. Gabby Palmisano and Lindsey Whittman each had one hit, and Megan Quinlan drove in a pair of runs.

Hioe earned the win with four strikeouts. Quinlan struck out two in no-hit relief.

Officials classes

The Hampshire-Franklin Association of Approved Basketball Officials Board 28 will hold classes for new candidates on Wednesday nights at 7 beginning this Wednesday through Nov. 16 at Amherst Regional High School.

The board is responsible for officiating high school and middle school basketball games in Hampshire and Franklin Counties. Candidates should sign up for the classes that will prepare them two take the two-part IAABO National New Candidates Exam on Nov. 7 and Nov. 21. The classes will be facilitated by Andy Rogers and Jim Cleveland and cost is $175, which includes rulebook, materials and national exam fee. Candidates will also be required to pass a national background check in order to be certified.
