SOUTH DEERFIELD — Yellow jackets at the Tilton Library have disrupted regular events and caused the library to seek outside help this week.
“They must have built in-ground nests without our knowing it,” said Debbie McQuillan, head of adult circulation, Tuesday afternoon.
A notice on the library’s Facebook page alerted library goers to “use the door at the top of the front steps or the door in the back of the building.” The post said the hornet problem caused an artists talk to be postponed.
McQuillan said the ground entrance was roped off after someone, who is OK, was stung a few days ago.
On Tuesday, she said the library hired someone to use anti-wasp spray around the grounds.
