MONTAGUE — Sawmill River Arts Gallery at The Montague Mill (Book Mill) is honoring Emily Dickinson from Saturday to Oct. 16.
The Emily Dickinson Museum in Amherst is celebrating the 10th anniversary of its founding and the 200th anniversary of the building of the Homestead, where Emily Dickinson spent most of her life. Eight gallery member artists have created or connected work related to the poetry of Dickinson, in a variety of mediums. Visitors will be encouraged to discover the designated art works with their accompanying poems.
“Last year we enjoyed creating ‘our’ Van Goghs after seeing the Clark Museum’s Van Gogh exhibit,” said Louise Minks, gallery artist, “and reflecting on Emily Dickinson’s poetry this year has been a wonderful inspiration and discovery. Some artists have several pieces connected to her poems, often new to us, that both delight and challenge us.”
The exhibit’s opening reception is Saturday from noon to 4 p.m. For more information go to www. sawmillriverarts .com or call 413-367-2885.
