When I tell people about where I live, they think I’m kidding.

The Pumping Station was so named because the fire trucks would get water there if needed in the further area of town or to just flush and refill the tanks on the pumpers.

It has been a swimming hole as far back as I can remember, which spans about 56 years, and even before that, I’m sure.

At first I thought this person writing to the editor was kidding, and that this was a gag letter. Nah, this person is really bothered by people enjoying themselves, and where they might choose to go to the bathroom. (Seriously, who even thinks of things like that?)

Never mind the place is full of wildlife, and I’m sure they carry containers to place their waste. I bet this person doesn’t even taste it in her chamomile tea … .

And another thing she mentions: if the town “swimming pool” (it’s a dammed-off area of the same river the people are swimming in upstream) is paid for by taxpayers, why is there a fee? Oh. For maintenance. Then why is it paid for by taxpayers?

Problem is, people just can’t mind their own business, especially around here.

My suggestion to this person would be, if seeing people enjoying themselves on a hot summer day bothers you that much …

Take another route.
